Professor Richard Dawkins is an ethologist, someone who studies animal behavior, and evolutionary theorist. A University of Oxford graduate, he is the first to hold the Charles Simonyi Chair in the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford. He did his doctorate under the Nobel prize-winning ethologist Niko Tinbergen. Dawkins’s first book, The Selfish Gene (1976; 1989) became an international bestseller and The Blind Watchmaker (1986) won the Royal Society of Literature Award and the Los Angeles Times Prize. His other bestsellers include River Out of Eden (1995), Unweaving the Rainbow (1998) and A Devil's Chaplain (2003). His most recent book is The Ancestor’s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution (2004). His lastest best seller, The God Delusion, will be available for purchase and signing.

Thanks for that link Josh, I'll take a crack at it also.

I'm listening to the podcast right now and the quality seems good enough to me all things considered. I guess that periodic whirring noise is the iPod hard disk firing up as it writes each few minute's audio from RAM to disk.

Richard seems to have went down very well in Lawrence! A video would be nice since he seemed to be using visual aids during the presentation.

His audience management and showmanship skills seem to be progressing well also, by the time he returns to the UK he'll be vying with big-time talk show hosts and stand up comedians!

I stood up and cheered! Let's hope some of this gets through to the unconverted.

Brilliant stuff. I listened to the entire podcast last night, and I will do so again this afternoon while I'm on the road - just the thing to while away a long bus journey. RD has very little to learn in terms of presentation skills and delivery, but he was helped by the crowd being all but completely behind him.

I would echo one of the earlier comments in saying that he would be a match for most stand-up comedians. I nearly cracked up at his description of some large church congregations being akin to something between "... a rock concert and a Nuremberg rally". It was all the more funny because I actually anticipated what he was about to say.

It will be great to get the video. While the audio is good enough for someone like me, I think only the video would suffice if I was trying to convince someone else.

A Fantastic broadcast! I salute Professor Dawkins for his work!

It's also great that there are Americans who are open minded on this subject!

I particularly liked the Professors' analogy on fairies! I laughed so hard!

Kind Regards, William.
