That was hilarious, but the sad thing is that it was hilarious to begin with, without Monty Python dubbed over it.

It's a shame that there are plenty of people about like Haggard. What is worse is that they are allowed near children.

Monty Python change the world. (And anyone brought up with them probably are hanging around here ;).)

Where can I find the real (full length) video of Dawkins and Haggard? The linked source clip is cut very short (and, annoyingly enough, right after Haggard finishes talking).

It's taken from the documantary "Root of all Evil ?", I'm almost certain that if you search YouTube you might find a longer clip.

Brilliant! Yes, Monsterbeach we are here. The Lumber Jack Song is my favorite! I'm sure Richard saw an episode or two himself:)

It's quite insightful about Haggard, as a man who maintains a deeply absurd proposition with utter conviction, while all along he's secretly longing to be doing something entirely different, preferably involving cross-dressing.

I am still laughing as I try to write this comment.

"He puts on woman's clothing and hangs around in bars."

"I wish I'd been a girlie - just like my dear papa."

OMG that's funny.

I wonder if Haggard is selling used cars yet.

Actually, the follow up is more twisted than selling used cars. Haggard has claimed he was cured of his gayness.

avatarThe Haggard vid I really love is this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOpMsuz_uK4

where he talks about sex. The final frames of this video are priceless. Just look at that leering smile.

Remember folks, this isnt a Phelps-esque nutjob extremist, this is MAINSTREAM evangelicalism...

ScottishGeologist, if it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious.

I love the way these people say they have 1500 pages of truths ... if that is true when do we start seeing animal sacrifice, food laws, biblical forms of dress (tassles are an essential ingredient here folks), how about circumcision in mainstream US evangelical circles - the last one would certainly draw the crowds! Of course polygamy was favoured by almost the whole of the old testament - it even encourages concubines in the case of Solomon.

If all these things were true in the old testament and are referred to far more often than sex (which seems to be the preoccupying topic of most of these weirdos) and greatly more than the odd passing reference to homosexuality then why do they take such a back burner in their theology.

Presumably they would argue that the new testament gives a new approach to these things (cop out IMHO) but if that is the case why do any christians support marriage when Paul clearly states that marriage is a distraction to the work of the gospel and should be avoided unless the christian is lacking self control!!!

Of course if Haggard had any principles he would demand that his congregation stone him following his admission to consorting with gay prostitutes - after all nowhere in the new testament does it revoke the laws they quote on homosexuality!

avatarWhat can I say? Whenever I see Haggard, I feel like grabbing hold and shaking him (or possibly punching him)... The Monty Python script coming out of his mouth did not change this for me in the slightest.

avatarBarnacle - I abhor your tacit approval of physical violence. It's anti-intellectual, and a sure sign you are losing an argument. Shame on you.

Actually....

Come to think of it...

... he really does have a face you wouldn't get tired of slapping.

If only it wasn't such a ridiculous issue in the first place.

Funny as hell! Though it made me think of the excruciating existence Haggard must have endured: preaching the gospel all the while nailing more than just parrots. Positively Orwellian existence. Poor, poor man.

Funny as hell though.

Worse still! He and his wife [huh?] are seeking a counseling degree or something like that so he can become a professional therapist!!!
