This is my first time writing to an author of a book I read and isn't something I do often. But after reading The God Delusion, I just had to. The book was a source of immense inspiration to me.
I'm amongst the lucky few, who are born and brought up in a fairly free-thinking family. I had my doubts in religion ever since I can remember. And I've long since become an atheist. I'm from India, and surprisingly, being an atheist isn't treated as bad here as it is in the western world. Whereas a woman wearing moderately modern clothes(moderately modern meaning something as simple as a pair of denims) is.
Often I find myself in heated argument with religious people who try to thrust their beliefs in our face.
In my high school, we had Value Education classes once a week. For some people apparently Value Education seems to be a synonym to Spiritual Teachings. I couldn't ever stand it. Not once. Many a times I got into heated arguments with the 'spiritual teachers'. You see I'm not the ones that would 'Go down without a fight'.
I(along with a group of atheist friends) have tried my best to counter all attempts by people to shove a religion card down our throats in the name of culture.
This Email was actually meant to remind you that you aren't losing the fight. There are still rational people in this world who love your work and want you to continue it. And this number grows by the day.
I wish you all the best in life and your quest against Religion. And also, I wish you live longer than the Pope. You know, just to piss them off. :)
PS. I'm just 19. :)
