Dear Professor Dawkins.
This is my very first fan letter as you will, so I apologize if it is not as articulate as one would hope.
Really Professor, I wanted to thank you for your wealth of work, which has had a huge impact on myself. I am a 20-year-old Social Science student and have found your work to be such powerful contribution to my learning and understanding of scientific arguments. I have never been religious, I do not have much time for it as a concept, as a practical endeavor for everyday life. I am also blessed (if you will excuse the pun!) To have a family who isn't religious and has allowed me to progress on my intellectual adventure. I have just read "The God Delusion" which has only strengthened my Atheist beliefs, and yes, I am proud to say that I am a 100% atheist and I will make no apology for it. The book really strengthened my view of religion and its dogmatic principles, which are eloquently summed up by none other than Karl Marx that "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the sentiment of a heartless world and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." This certainly resonates with some of the disgraceful and uneducated ramblings of the religious zealots on your ugly file.
I am also A massive fan of your other works, two of my favorites are "The Selfish Gene" and "The Greatest Show on Earth" which is strengthened by their clear evidence and how simply and effective this evidence is put forward.
Professor, I have no doubts that I shall continue following and enjoying your work. for nothing has change my thinking more than your work. My wish for the future is that there is a healthy, well organised Atheist movement, pushing forward scientific fact and evidence, promoting more inquiry and to get everyone questioning these fundamental beliefs and superstitions that have oppressed and chained our minds for centuries. this would be a movement I would be proud to stand with.
Thank you again and I look forward to reading your future works.
Yours sincerely and with respect.
Mr Leigh Douglas.
