Dear Professor Dawkins,
I would like to understand autism and where it comes from. Is it a natural chromosome change or is it man made (from vaccinations)?
Since the first diagnosis of autism in 1943 the number of children in the United States thought to have autism was 1 in 10,000. Now the number of children thought to have autism is 1 in 150 with autism and over half a million people in the UK with autism - that's around 1 in 100, I don't know what the figures are for the rest of the world.
Man Made
Vaccines, fluoride, MSG, GMOs, toxic chemicals, processed foods – the causes of autism?
I have found no concrete proof either to prove or disprove this idea.
Natural
When my son was diagnosed with ASD, I was told it was something both parents carried but it was usually passed mother to son, plus there might be a link between ASD and epilepsy(my husband has this).
I have my own theory, Austism could be the next step in human brain evolution, autistic children/adults appear to have a almost obsessive intelligence on some subjects - with my son it is computers and space.
Some of the greatest historical figures were believed to have ASD - Newton, Tesla, Einstein and even Darwin.
I would value your opinion on this subject.
Kindest Regards
Margaret Wilby
