I became an atheist when I was eight years old. Once I realised that Santa wasn't real I came to the conclusion that god, jesus christ, the easter bunny and the great pumpkin weren't real either. Eight years old I was! I'm 38 now. So, for the past 30 years I have been enjoying a delusion free reality. I haven't killed, raped or otherwise hurt any of my fellow human beings. In fact I like to think that I am more aware of the world around me and the people in it. And I'm more apt to do something to help someone I feel are in need instead of praying to an invisible man to help them.
God is an albatross around the neck of humanity, a scape-goat for all of the otherwise solvable problems we face in the world today. "God will provide" and all that - such a waste of time. Time to grow up as a species and let go the false secuirty of a supernatural deity. You wouldn't let your child go off to university sucking their thumb and dragging a security blanket along with them now would you? It's ok to let go of god and face the world on our own terms, nothing bad will happen - I promise:)
Thank you Mr. Dawkins for you important work. Let's hear it for the voice of reason!!
