1. UC Berkeley is going to court over Evolution website

Comment #180660 by Ragnar0kk on May 15, 2008 at 1:13 pm

For the love of science when will all of this madness stop!

Clearly most religious beliefs contradict science as wall as all manner of rational thought! I am kind of angry that UC Berkeley tried to placate these nuts to begin with. That goofy picture showing a scientist shaking hands with a religious nutbag!

2. Bill Good Interviews Richard Dawkins

Comment #173296 by Ragnar0kk on April 30, 2008 at 3:23 pm

Dawkins was on his game in this interview, well worth the listen (even though he does have to confront some worn out and incredibly unoriginal social memes)

4. Hitchens vs. Hitchens

Comment #157790 by Ragnar0kk on April 9, 2008 at 2:31 pm

I for one loved Christopher in this debate. He took his brother to the floor and whooped his ass like there were 7 years old again! :)

5. Upside-down church sculpture on hit list

Comment #154655 by Ragnar0kk on April 3, 2008 at 2:42 pm

That sculpture is pretty cool. I am not a huge fan of modern art but I think this is a very creative way of illustrating a point.

I must admit from a purely aesthetic standpoint I don't think I would want that it in my yard. :)

6. Richard Dawkins on The Alan Colmes Show

Comment #143805 by Ragnar0kk on March 14, 2008 at 12:44 pm

sweet love the Dawkins audio!

[though i must admit Alan Combs is an absolute tool and career doormat for the bible thumping Sean Hannity]

edit: To clarify i have no problem with Alan Combs, he is a reasonable person. However, the character that he plays on the fictional and blatantly biased news program "Hannity & Combs" is a veritable punching bag for the pompous and ignorant Sean Hannity (who happens to be one of the stupidest commentators in the history of television).

7. Bill Moyers Interviews Susan Jacoby

Comment #128972 by Ragnar0kk on February 18, 2008 at 11:43 am

I love Bill Moyers! I watched this over the weekend and thought it was a great interview (as are all of his interviews)

It's too bad Bill Moyers didn't run for president, i know a lot of democrats who would have loved to see him go for it. Of course he probably wouldn't win the nomination but he would inject some much needed sanity into the political debate in America.

8. Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

Comment #123814 by Ragnar0kk on February 7, 2008 at 4:57 pm

All I was asking is for someone to tell me:

If you're not muslim then how will it affect you?

well for starters what about women within the muslim community. If their husband beats them they will not seek protection under UK law because all of their friends and family will demand they adhere to Sharia law. If this said woman then says she doesn't want to be under Sharia law her family and friends will disown her for rejecting the law of Islam, thus this poor girl will be forced into Sharia law or forfeit all of her family and friends.

I for one refuse to live in a society where a woman can be victimized in this way by the existence of Sharia law. If there is no Sharia law she will not be forced into following it, that is how it affects us all.

I disagree with that. I think atheists and secular people have been holding their fire for way too long. I can't think of any interpretation of Rowan Williams' reasoning that should escape hash criticism.

rAmen brother, rAmen i say!

(I too have been touched by his noodly appendage)

10. Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

Comment #123651 by Ragnar0kk on February 7, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Personally i feel this has been coming for a long time in England. The only way to have a functioning society composed of various religious groups is to separate the church and the state.

If you delay in this separation more and more religious groups will enter your country and demand their own legal system. The only rational solution is to have a secular government that all religions must abide by.

11. Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

Comment #123638 by Ragnar0kk on February 7, 2008 at 12:26 pm

Really? Pity it isn't actual "marriage," but it's a step in the right direction.

I totally agree but this is a first step in the right direction. It is family support and cohesion that is important to raising children, (not heterosexuality). Therefore our society would be much better off if we included same sex couples in our families rather than driving them away. This clip by Jon Stewart illustrates this point perfectly

Contention: Most states still have so called "blue laws" which prohibits the sale of certain "vice" items such as alcohol and, in my state, Pennsylvania, automobiles.

You should move to Oregon we don't have any of those religious laws (or very few) and we just legalized same sex unions a couple days ago!

The only way to respect all religions equally is to respect none of them at all.

I agree with your logic 100% my friend

I would rather fight to the death than bow before Sharia law, fuck this guy

15. Interview with Christopher Hitchens

Comment #94062 by Ragnar0kk on December 4, 2007 at 5:00 pm

there is an easy way to keep Christians off this message board, just make them digitally sign a waiver saying they denounce Christ when they sign up for an account, that should weed out most of them :)

19. Republican candidates range from ignorant to dishonest, part 2

Comment #48544 by Ragnar0kk on June 8, 2007 at 10:28 am

When will you all realize that Giuliani, Romney, etc are all fascists! Ron Paul is the only republican candidate with half a brain and the media treats him like he has leprosy (because he doesn't advocate pre-emptive nuclear war). If another republican like Giuliani get's in office you can kiss the rest of your freedoms good buy!

Bonzai

I just watched that Undercover Mosque video on Youtube. I can only say that i was completely disgusted. We as rational beings must do all we can to stop the spread of this vile mental disease known as islam.

This is an imminent problem. How do we get rid of these insane religious people? Education is surely the best way but once people have become this indoctrinated it is unlikely to free them from their mental prisons.

27. Atheist offers to send letters post-Rapture

Comment #38966 by Ragnar0kk on May 9, 2007 at 4:34 pm

This is an absolutely awesome scam to run. Personally I believe in financial Darwinism, let those foolish enough to send in their $4.99 die penniless!
