I believe the correct pronunciation is "numb-nuts"

Bizarro: ""No you teach them to believe in nothing without evidence. It's called thinking for themselves."
No, actually it's called classical evidentialism, and it is a logically corrupt philosophical notion. Evidentialism holds that it is irrational for anyone anywhere to believe any proposition without sufficient evidence. Unfortunately, the philosophy fails to pass its own test as there is obviously no evidence to support evidentialism."
Ah, that old chestnut. That argument is known as herschey's discombobular theory, which is a flawed pedagogical precept I'm afraid. Sorry, try again. Oh yes, and you're talking bollocks.

Bizarro: "To believe in nothing is still to believe in something. A vacuum is still something. It is empty space. It does not not exist."
Brilliant, just brilliant.
Stopped reading after this - what was the point?

I don't understand. Richard gave a perfectly sensible answer.

Wee Flea
You post offensive, narrow-minded remarks, you are a troll, and worst of all you are dishonest.
I'm sure that will get you far in your church.
Your other incarnations should be easy to spot judging by your childishly insulting posts.
Hopefully you will still love me and find it in your heart to forgive me for my comments.
6. Christian sports workers degree ridiculed

I am disappointed by Professor Dawkins' ignorance. Like Dr Pitchfork says, he doesn't understand the history between sport and churches in this country.
For example, did you know that the sport of running was developed in the colosseums where christians and lions would compete?
In our country shot putting was traditionally performed using easter eggs. And then there's the steeplechase.
Wake up Professor Dawkins. English sporting heritage is replete with many other examples of sports that owe their very being to the church, and long may it continue.
Does anybody have the number of the admissions tutor?

Like it! The scary thing is that they really do think like that. The amount of times I've debated with people who believe science to be flawed because it is constantly being revised!

Bizarro: "I also think it interesting that Redfive mentioned [IN COMMENT 1]the common arguments against a religious motivation, but offered no rebuttals to them..."
DO I need to?
1. Religion has got something to do with it: the whole thing was about fatty falwell.
2. Religion gives psychopaths a reason to commit atrocities if they believe a god is on their side, or even talking to them. It highlights the power of superstition.
3. As far as I know, and I stand to be corrected on this, Hitlerstalinpot were not doing their evil deeds in the name of atheism.

I can hear the defensive responses already.
"religion has nothing to do with it"
"you get psychopaths from all walks of life"
"Loot at what Stalin did, and Pol Pot, and Hitler! THEY were all atheists"
10. Goodness without Godliness
Comment #42871 by redfive on May 20, 2007 at 3:28 am
Knowing how believers love their sacred texts, I wonder if they have a "Holy Book of Arguments and Responses". It always comes down to the same bullshit ones:
"without god we would all kill eachother because there would be no morals"
"Something cannot come from nothing, therefore there must be a creator"
"How come there's music, art and love?"
"Science is often proved wrong or revised, therefore it's flawed"
And the stock response to the human suffering/loving god paradox is the "free will" crap.
When you eventually corner them they pull out their "get out of jail" card: faith.

"So the project of Richard Dawkins -- basically, to try to turn us all into atheists -- is just a pipe dream?"
So, Professor Dawkins, you have an evil plan to take over the world and turn everyone into atheists? Mwaaar ha ha ha!!!!!

"Freethinking can only desecrate, despoil and ruin"
That really says it all. What a complete dickcheese.
