Dark matter was theorized to account for the behavior of galaxies and groups of galaxies. It is thought that without the dark matter the galaxies should have spun themselves to oblivion by now. It would seem then that the dark matter does not interact with the electro-magnetic, weak nuclear or strong nuclear force, but must have some effect on the gravitional force. So it would seem that it's gravitational effect on ordinary matter would be the means of detecting it. Or am I barking up the wrong tree.
I am kind of thinking that a bright mind will find a reason to dismiss the need for dark matter and dark energy. To recoin an old phrase: if it doesn't sound like a train, and it doesn't look like a train, assume there ain't no train.
Remember when trying to reconcile the evidence that the universe was both 12 billion and 20 billion years old was the problem of the day. Man, for those good old days!!
