The lunacy of the concept of ID is well documented. I have suggested to various backers of this deluded notion that, if the big guy in the clouds made us all to be just like him, then he is in bad shape. Also, if we are supposed to be so unique, made in his image as it were, then why are we so much like everything else. A puzzling, querky, roll your eyes around kind of glance is the best responce I have had to date.

The stupidity of religious institutions knows no bounds.
Before my father died, he told my mother that after he went, he did not want a priest within ten miles of him . At the funeral, my elder brother held his head up and spoke of my father in a manner that only someone who truely knew him and loved him could. Not some regurgitated crap from an individual who, in life, my father thought was at best, a dickhead.

" No child's behind left! " Hitch was right on the money. Who here would be genually surprized if a thorough investigation and supporting statistics showed there to be double digit percentage of catholic priests were in fact practicing CHILD MOLESTERS. In Australia, we are all well aware of the frequency of this. I wish they would forget about apologizing and just do something about it. History has shown that an internal investigation is about as useful as a cup of cold water when it comes to the church. There were soooooooo many quotes in that article that made me sick to my stomach
"Well I certainly hope that it's part of an ongoing process of our work at doing the right thing in this difficult area and that for some of the individuals who've been hurt, that it will be part of the healing process," he said
DIFFICULT AREA!!!!......What the!!!!.....He is talking about the systemactic rape of children, sanctioned by that stupid organization of which he is part.
I need a beer.

I am an Australian, not much of a flag waver, but an Australian none the less, and I sincerely hope never to have to seriously deal with an issue such as this in this country. The idea of giving some kind of mandate to seudo educators to enable them to spread their incredibly stupid ideas onto the fertile minds of America's youth is just mind boggling.

For the benifit of the tape...Mr appaZ is shaking his head....and now, in a move not to dissimilar to that used by Mike Tyson, he has just chewed the dog ears off a bible.

I was chatting to an elderly Danish chap at a pub in China yesterday who told me of four people he knew who had their cancers go into remission after consuming some sort of, what I tell my misses is, Chinese Voodoo ( co-agulated snake seamon and the like ) . He was adament. He couldn't explain it, but he was adament that it is a cure.
I suggested to him that if it was so successful and so obvious...........it would be science!
He didn't see my point.

What do you say when you read stuff like that? And their view on other faiths is just so idiotic. They get more critical than we do. Yet the self deluding nature of religion blinds them to the fact that theirs is no more credible in any sense of the word, or viable as being of any benifit to the survival of our Us and the long suffering wildlife on this planet, whose days, along with ours, are as far as i can see, limited at best.

Though I visit this web site every day, I seldom post a comment. I watch, read and download everything I possibly can, and do my best to share atheism with anyone who will listen. Today though, I have been truely inspired. I would like to thank all of you who shared your stories of courage and renewal.
I was fortunate enough to be raised by a father who's final instuction to my mother before he died was -
" I do not want a priest within ten miles of me "
That statement is now fokelore in our family. Thanks again and I hope all goes well in the future.
13. The God Delusion - Dawkins Feature
Comment #50784 by appaZ on June 20, 2007 at 1:25 am
If the harsh tone in Dawkins book is what grabbed peoples attention - Good. If it inspires, challenges or invokes some kind of outrage that wills people to join the debate, if for no other reason than to denounce Richard himself as a nutter, and thereby assisting with giving this subject the public airing that it needs - even better

Enjoyed it immensly as usual. I would have liked a few more questions from the audience. Quite often thats the funniest part.
I am not a scientist, I do not have a university education, I didn't have much of an education at all ( it was on offer, I simply declined to partake due to the fact that at 17 I was somewhat pre-occupied with lifes more selfish quests ) Many years later and now living in the country, I can look up on a clear night and see a million stars. Though my understanding of the universe is somewhat basic and I constantly wonder at what was filling up all that space prior to the big bang, I will be damned if I will ever give in to " The Big Guy in the Clouds " theory as I believe it is an insult to even my limited inteligence.
And to those folk on the other side of the debate I would say - " Thank god for Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris and the like!! "
15. Interview with Christopher Hitchens

Having trouble getting hold of the file for some reason. Thought I would drop this off while I was here. Written in the early eighties. Still holds true. I'm sure Mr Hitchens could muster a chuckle over this also.
( sung in a low sinister voice, much like the guy that does the Hollywood promo's for up and coming horror films - The Grudge etc. )
Lyrics by Frank Zappa - Dumb All Over
Whoever we are, wherever we're from
We shoulda noticed by now our behavior is dumb
And if our chances expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more than tryin' to remove
The other race, or the other whatever
From the face of the planet altogether
They call it THE EARTH, which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right 'cause we behave the same...
We are dumb all over!
Dumb all over, yes we are
Dumb all over, near'n far
Dumb all over, black 'n white
People, we is not wrapped tight
Nurds on the left, nurds on the right
Religious fanatics on the air every night
Sayin' the Bible tells the story
Makes the details sound real gory
'Bout what to do if the geeks over there
Don't believe in the book we got over here
You can't run a race without no feet
'N pretty soon there won't be no street
For dummies to jog on or doggies to dog on
Religious fanatics can make it be all gone
(I mean it won't blow up 'n disappear
It'll just look ugly for a thousand years...)
You can't run a country by a book of religion
Not by a heap, or a lump, or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules of ancient date
Designed to make you all feel great
While you fold, spindle, and mutilate
Those unbelievers from a neighboring state
TO ARMS! TO ARMS!
Hooray! That's great, two legs ain't bad
Unless there's a crate they ship the parts to mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (Get down!)
Not his, not hers (but what the hey?)
The Good Book says: "It's gotta be that way!"
But their book says: "REVENGE THE CRUSADES. . .
With whips 'n chains 'n hand grenades. . ."
TWO ARMS? TWO ARMS?
Have another and another
Our God says: "There ain't no other!"
Our God says "It's all okay!"
Our God says "This is the way!"
It says in the book: "Burn 'n destroy. ..
'N repent, 'n redeem 'n revenge, 'n deploy
'N rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
'Cause they don't go for what's in the book 'n that makes 'em BAD
So verily we must choppeth them up, and stompeth them down
Or rent a nice French bomb to poof them out of existence
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again for temples in which to praise OUR GOD
("Cause he can really take care of business!")
And when his humble TV servant with humble white hair
And humble glasses and a nice brown suit
And maybe a blonde wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our God says it's okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
'Cause if we don't do it, we ain't goin' wine up to hebbin!
(Depending on which book you're using at the time...
Can't use theirs. . .it don't work . . .it's all lies...Gotta use mine...)
Ain't that right? That's what they say every night...Everyday. ..
Hey, we can't really be dumb if we're just following God's Orders
Hey, let's get serious...God knows what he's doin'
He wrote this book here and the book says:
He made us all to be just like Him,"
so...If we're dumb...
Then God is dumb...
(An' maybe even a little ugly on the side)
16. Baptists Warned About Islam, Atheism
Comment #49675 by appaZ on June 12, 2007 at 11:06 pm
- Colson also dismissed a burgeoning movement known as "the emergent church" _ popular among younger Baptists and other evangelicals _ as "abandoning the search for truth" in favor of "conversations in coffee shops." He instead pointed to the success of booming Third World Churches, which Colson said adhere to "pure orthodox truth." -
The naughty boys at the "emergent church" have "abandoned the search for truth"
Point #1 - I did not think that any church was genuinally intersested in searchiung for the truth, so I wasn't surprised to hear that one of them was abandoning it.
Also, those little scallywags at the "emergent church" have "conversations in coffee shops."
Point #2 - I like conversations in coffee shops!
The booming Third World Churches and their "pure orthodox truth."
Point #3 - A slight adjustment is required here
" pure unorthodox fairy tale "

G'day folks, ( my first posting )
The mere fact that Ms Allen deems it necessary to seek legal approval for her fear of nothing more than the spoken word, ( sticks and stones can break my bones ) and by a child no less, is in all seriousness......... Laughable.
The child that she claims is liable for her misery, if all goes well, will not hear of this lunacy ( The lunacy that Ms Allen may well need unspecified damages for ) until she reaches an age where, unlike Ms Allen, she has a certain amount of scope to view things with a little more objectivity and a little less __________ ( you can fill in the space )
