I guess so isaone.Remember the Beatles comment saying they were more popular than Jesus? Look at the aftermath of that.
Its ironic, cos I couldnt imagine living in a society where Christianity would be taken so seriously to the point where itd lead to the burning of papers and books etc.No disrespect to you of course.

I thought the same thing manic-deppressive.But I tried to find a comments section underneath the article. And there wasnt any.Which is a surprise because the Guardian normally provides one.
I suspect that you may be right about them wishing to distance themselves from this article. But then why print it in the first place if they wanted to do that?

Only a religiously indoctrinated scribe would use the term "worship" instead of respect or admiration.Ravenhill has downplayed his religious view and I suspect he is more faith influenced than he will let on.
God is not behind the greatest works of art.Talent, vision and hard work is.Only the subject matter is always the same.God here,God there.I think some of the greatest works of art were those that didnt have God in them.

Child neglect of the first degree.Whats scary is not just the fact that they let their daughter die in such an excruciating way.But what kind of mindset allows them to watch their daughter die when simple medical treatment will do what praying cannot. In guess we can expect many more similar tragedies to come.

Ive said this here before so hope I dont look foolish in repeating myself but has anybody noticed that since Nazi Hitler Jeugen Ratzinger became head of the Catholic Curch theres been a gradual campaign of the medievalism mentality creeping back into catholic doctrine.I think they want to return to bad old days of burnings and inquisitions.
So far we´ver seen a clampdown on abortion, gay marriage,an upgrade of the seven deadly sins.Demands(not calls) for a return to traditional catholic ways.I knew the moment that German became the Pope this would happen.

It was a bit of a pointless exercise actually.Tom Harpur examines already known evidence of the pagan origins of christianity.Discovers the truth about the historical Jesus but then reinforces his belief in the bible version of Jesus? That I dont get. What side of the fence is he on?what was the point of it all?

Seems to be that everytime stem cell is mentioned, the automatic thought that follows is cloning and frankensteins monster.I think the objective is overlooked here.
I am a type 2 diabetic. There is nothing ld love more and lm sure most other diabetics would agree with me,is to be rid of this condition. This is what stem cell research means to people like me.Sure the religionists can all "oo and aaa" and pray for somebodies soul when they die of some affliction and disease, but really who wants to painfully die of cancer or of diabetes or of heart problems? Certainly not me and l am in this risk category The mere fact that over time we have extended our mortality rules out the arguments for "Gods Plan".Why would we even have medicine if we werent trying to find ways of fighting sickness.
I think the future of stem cell research lies in Europe where religion doesnt overule in politics.I just hope for my sake that it advances.

Comment #79365 by Philster61 on October 17, 2007 at 4:38 am
My first impression watching McGrath here is that he looks totally umcomfortable. He is swaying from side to side. Not a good sign of a confident speaker. He is gesturing more than is neccessary. And he isnt really putting his point across.I was almost wanting him to finish as soon as possible. He was uninteresting to watch and pretty much forgoten everything he had said after 30 seconds or so.
Hitchens on the other hand was eloquent, to the point. And didnt veer off into a dead end rhetorical episode. He was much much easier to follow than Mcgrath.I was following everything he said and ended up mengtally debating what he was saying.

Ill mention one reason why the Dutch government should keep paying for her proptection.
"Theo Van Gogh".
He was stabbed in the heart with a knife wrapped in paper that had Hirsi Alis name on it.If that isnt enough reason to keep protecting her at ANY place in the world then what is? Holland is becoming a very dangerous place for people who exercise their rights to free speech.
I am amazed that they(Dutch)could be so naiive as to believe that they could intergrate Muslims into the Dutch way of life. The Dutch way of life practically goes against everything that Muslim teaches.Could you imagine if fundamental Muslim women actually lived like their dutch counterparts?
Its a sad situation when Hirsi Ali feels more safe in US than in Holland. The insullar Dutch have so far been from unaffected by the realities that Spain,US and UK have had to face when confronted by the violence that Islam is.Although Im certain that the ghosts of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh are crying out for justice.Perhaps this is their wake up call.

The Dutch govenment is inlikely to recognise or even do something about it.Like everyting else in the Dutch history theyve got their heads buried in the dyke.I mentioned this in the previous pot regarding this.I got a reply saying " have I not read the diary of Anne Frank." How unsurprising the Dutch government doing this.Youll never see a more cowardly institution than the Dutch. They just stick their head in a dyke any time some sort of crisis arises. You only have to look at their record during WW2.
Instead of the Dutch authorities going after those that would pose a threat to her, they pull the funding from her protectorate and leave her to the very real threat of danger. She has more courage than the whole of the dutch people put together.
35. CNN Request for 'I-Reports' on religion
Comment #65070 by Philster61 on August 22, 2007 at 8:14 pm
Hey, Did anybody get to watch the CNN spcial with Christianne Amanpour "Gods Warriors"? It gives an account of each of the 3 main world religions and their hatred towards each other and their extreme fundamentalist approach. If ever there was a need for declaring religion a crime against humanity, then this CNN special pretty much makes the case.
Religion does more harm against humanity than Mssrs Hitchens,Dawkins or Harris can ever possibly describe.I would suggest to commentors here to watch tomorrows episode when CNN will be broadcasting the Muslim edition.

Atheists suffering? Holy Schmoly what kind of incense is this priest smokin? Atheists dont "suffer" their atheism. They dont suffer the guilt trip that catholisism gives you. They dont look upon everything as "sin".And as en ex catholic myself,I know how the catholic church itself promotes the concept of "suffering". All you have to do is look at its barbaric history.
But however the Catholic Church feels the need to constantly Catholics remind of Jesus`suffering.(As if we werent already reminded enough). The leading proponenets of historys biggest scam has been the Catholic Church.
I mean gimme a break "The miracle of childbirth"???. How arrogant to suggest that the birth of a human child is a "miracle" Forgetting the fact that every other species on the planet undergoes the same process.Should we not call that a miracle also? WOuld any other species also think that its a miracle,or are the 90% of religiously indoctrinated people studpi enough to believe so?
