Why can't they just celebrate a Ten Commandments weekend and let everyone else be? It's not illegal to make up holidays is it? If people enjoy the meme it will propagate.

Is it the same mentality that leads people to only post something along the lines of:
(mental/psycho/retarded)fuck them (IDiots/tards)

I've been trying to come up with a logical reason why some of the posters do either of those things.
I guess "hey look, it's Me!" could explain both.

Perhaps from now on I'll just pretend it's an acronym "Frustratingly Uninformed on Common Knowledge" though that would render "fucktard" repetitive ...back to the drawing board.

Is there such a number that cold be defined as "to many good books to read" ?
I'm thinking my current total of "5 unread-but-owned" is a bit much, but Steven Brust has a new book coming out ...

1&2: I suggest Pro-logic
3&4: Seem to refer back to the "militancy" of passionate debate. No one is suggesting violence. Personaly what I have found is that simple sparring will lead to dragging out the issues that lead to passionate debate eventualy.
5: Right, though the idea is making a more vocal Pro-logic (patent pending!) front is not the same as banning all religions. I'm not sure why we should continue to give Alogicists kid gloves treatment if they continue to generate problems amongst themselves and for the rest of us, via their misunderstanding of our species importance in relation to the universe.

I'm guessing I won't have to worry about an off topic thread derailing at this point, and hope noone minds if I ask a few questions about the topic we are on.
I have my own "pet theory" that homosexuality is a natural means of population control.
I'm ashamed to say I have no evidence to offer. While at the same time curious to know if any studies have taken that train of thought, or countered it.

I'm one of the aforementioned "reads but doesn't post" types. Thanks for all the entertainment! Figured I'd try my hand at adding a few things.
T-shirt: Interesting strategy. In the area of Idaho where I live this will be seen as promoting adultry.
Mormons are oddly better read than I would expect from their book. (I'm from Florida, Mormons & mountains are still kinda new to me)

Bah! I was very happy to have read all posts prior to mine, 2nd time posting and I would rather not reiterate what others have clearly stated (good call Yorker) but it didn't take my post and it seems there have been more since.
Can't wait to see what i've missed

if so based on what evidence?
if not then what evidence have you found in the contrary?

You might find that you have a common ground with atheists in your views on such fruitful topics as:
how important is it to leave milk out for sprites at dusk ?
and
spreading the word on the best way to avoid dijinn attacks ...should it be a faith based program?
