A jury trial in Austin is not so bad. It's the most liberal city in the South. If the trial is in fact in Austin then she probably wins.
2. The $10,000-a-Month Psychic
Comment #201628 by action bastard on June 30, 2008 at 12:40 am
Note to self: Don't ever buy stock in Seagate Technology. A multi-billion dollar company that hires a psychic for $10000 a month is not the sort of management I'm looking for as an investor.
3. Texas Supreme Court rules church can't be sued in exorcism
Comment #201621 by action bastard on June 30, 2008 at 12:27 am
The real problem here is the fact that Texas elects their judges. Republican judges get campaign financing from conservative groups. Some candidates are not really qualified for state supreme court. When justice is for sale it skews the judiciary checks and balances.
4. Animal Science Without Evolution
Comment #184661 by action bastard on May 25, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Since we're on the subject of christian animal science, does the book explain how Moses gathered 9-10 million animal species and put them on a boat for weeks? How did he procure enough food for elephants? How did he keep the lions from eating the zebras. Sanitation must have a nightmare........... This author is shoveling more bs than Noah.

Maybe it's time to build some schools in Africa. Africa has been exploited for its natural resources for centuries. Yet, they have very little to show for it. This type of barbaric behavior shouldn't exist anymore.

The article states that Flanders read Harry Potter to his sons at bedtime.......In that episode Ned finishes the story and then adds:"Harry and his friends then go to hell for practicing witchcraft."
7. Teenager faces prosecution for calling Scientology 'cult'

All religions are cults. Some are more successful than others. The catholic church being #1. The Branch Davidians, Jonestown etc. are the some of the least successful ones...........

Satan did in fact bury fossils. TEA would probably agree.

I don't understand how these creationist/ID wackos think science teachers are going to teach their classes if all the exam answers are "god did it". My mother is a science teacher in a small town in Texas and I'm reasonably sure she would retire rather teach pseudoscience.
10. Boy dies of leukemia after refusing treatment for religious reasons
Comment #92148 by action bastard on November 30, 2007 at 12:51 am
So using modern medical treatment for leukemia is against the teachings of the bible? I wasn't aware they had cancer treatment back in biblical times. It's too bad there's not a passage about not knocking on someone's door at 8am on Saturday mornings. Anyway, this judge has blood on his hands too. There's no excuse for letting a 14 year old die because of some twisted religious indoctrination.
11. Banishing the Green-Eyed Monster

Wow, this is definitely one of the more evocative articles I've read on this site. I think sexual jealousy also involves a fear of losing one's partner. Unfortunately, most affairs produce something negative. Std, pregnancy, divorce, financial problems and insecurities about one's physical attractiveness to their spouse to name a few. I've had several opportunities to have sex outside my marriage and chose not to out of respect for my wife. Monogamy is good for marriages. People who want that kind of sexual freedom should not get married.

PHD's huh? I don't have one but I remember from grade school the scientific process. Forming a theory and then twisting the evidence to support it is not science. These "geologists" should have learned elementary science before proceeding to doctorates.
13. Scandal brewing at Oral Roberts U.
Comment #76479 by action bastard on October 6, 2007 at 1:19 am
Roberts doesn't seem to realize how serious these allegations are. Misuse of funds by a non-profit organization, academic fraud, unlawful job terminations, and possible underage sexual encounters by his wife. Criminal investigations could be forthcoming. I wonder if he plans to use god as his legal counsel?
Btw, Ms Robert's status as "first lady" might need to be revoked. When I was in college any "lady" I called at 3am was by no means my first choice.
14. Catholic school board in Halton may ban HPV vaccination
Comment #71562 by action bastard on September 19, 2007 at 3:30 am
What about Hepatitis B? It can be transmitted by sex and syringe drug use. Is the catholic church condoning that behavior by allowing vaccines? This goes to show that the vatican remains public enemy number one on health issues.
Comment #71558 by action bastard on September 19, 2007 at 3:07 am
Wow.......Did they really debate the validity of a flat earth? The fat black woman should become the official spokesperson for christianity. There would be mass atheist conversions.
16. Texas Leads U.S. in Teen Birth Rate
Comment #59186 by action bastard on July 28, 2007 at 2:39 am
I'm writing this behind enemy lines because I live in a small Texas town, where churches far outnumber schools. There seems to be strong resistance from parents, for religious reasons, to give birth control and condoms to their kids. It doesn't help that the Texas Legislature recently voted down a bill requiring adolescent girls to get cervical cancer vaccinations. I wonder if they would also vote against an AIDS vaccine? As long as religion has a stranglehold on this state sex ed will be a taboo subject. I hope evolution education doesn't get the next ax.
17. Christians disrupt Hindu Prayer at Senate Invocation
Comment #56143 by action bastard on July 14, 2007 at 2:41 am
Why do some Christians discriminate against other religion's imaginary friends? If they were raised in India they would be devout Hindu worshippers as well. Though, I agree with previous posts that the US congress has no business praying to begin with. "Operation Save America/Operation Rescue"? Wtf is the national emergency? Is India invading?
