Interesting article.
I find it frustrating that the date of the original article is missing, as is often the case with these postings. Is there a policy not to post the original publication date, or is it just that it has not been deemed important? Personally I would prefer to see all articles dated.

I have XP but run Firefox and none of the quicktime videos run properly. I think I have up-to-date versions but I generally now link to the original or have to run explorer to view video. Another vote here for open source - although I have no idea what that would be.
3. Poll finds more Americans believe in devil than Darwin

Is anyone else uncomfortable with the phrase "believe in evolution"? It makes it seem like an alternative belief rather than a scientific theory - I would no more believe in evolution than believe in gravity. I have no problem with evolution - in fact I've always found the idea of natural selection fascinating (favourite Dawkins book is The Ancestor's Tale), and I have never had a religious faith: perhaps that is why the idea of "belief" doesn't feel right.
4. Interview with Richard Dawkins

Excellent interview but I had to wake up Internet Explorer to view it as it wouldn't run in Firefox except in 5-second hiccups. Anyone else find this?

I read somewhere that showing videos of the sort of wildlife documentaries we have become used to seeing on TV in the UK can have quite a dramatic effect on how populations local to endangered wildlife can appreciate it. Living close by, especially where an animal is dangerous, does not often give people a chance to see the wildlife as other than either a resource or a nuisance. This sort of exercise has to be a really good use of modern technology.

(Note to self: must learn how to make links!)
7. 'Root of All Evil? The Uncut Interviews' Released on DVD

The original Root of all evil" dvd advertised in the right-hand panel is also only available in NTSC. I know the Americans probably need them more but a Europe-friendly format should surely be available too.

Thanks for that link (#66203). I've been trying to remember what that series was called: "Alternative Medicine: The Evidence". Excellent series of programs that would bear repeating.

There was a four part series a few years ago (I think on the BBC) on the same subject by Kathy Sykes, another Prof. of the public understanding of science. I remember thinking at the time it ought to be on every school's curriculum.

Some time ago there was a series of four programs on BBC TV on this subject by Kathy Sykes, another Professor of the Public Understanding of Science. Does anyone know whether this is available online anywhere?
