>> 16 Apr 08: Neanderthal expert Dr Chris Stringer discusses new ideas of how neanderthals and early man co-existed with Telegraph Science Editor Dr Roger Highfield. <<
I have to strongly disagree with his premise.
Dr Roger Highfield probably did no co-exist with early man and neanderthals :-)

You always want proof (or backing it up for everything). Then please ... give me proof that that God does not exist (something I can witness to), and give me proof to how the universe was created (something I can witness to), since you know it all by science, you must be a creator, or one who denies the creator. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. I don't try to frighten anyone, it's all about what is clearly written in the scripture. It's all about whether you are living in the light or the darkness.
It is no virus, it is Life.

Then from where does a child obtain it's morality?

The truth maybe (life after death)?
The Bible is the Truth, but those in darkness don't step into the light to understand it. They only refute it.
Is there an objective evidence for it (life after death)?
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ – By Jesus, we inherit everlasting life. Although, we must admit our sins, repent, and grow spiritually.
The journey is not easy. We will be tempted, but God always delivers a straight path if we choose to take it. There are things you can't see, can't prove.
This is where Faith comes in and Faith is measurable.
Has anyone seen what is beyond death?
The disciples walked in the light (the Truth of the Scripture) and sacrificed their lives because they saw something spectacular. And, it wasn't an out of body experience (of which to my knowledge the Bible makes no claim). Even I question these out-of-body experiences. There is something more … "things you can't see, can't prove". There is Life!
Has anyone survived his or her own death?
Yes, all of our souls (or energies) do, we either survive in Heaven or Hell. The choice is yours.
And there was one GodMan who survived physical death: Jesus - and he will live forever.
He will review your life on that great day.
If someone claims so, are their accounts reliable?
The biblical account is reliable. In this there is great evidence. Would you go through ultimate torture, then death, for a lie?
Are they based on facts? Or fantasies? Or ancient texts?
It is based on fact and it is a text that is ancient, yet also new. It is no fantasy, unless you remain in the darkness. In darkness we don't see very well. On the side of darkness it is easy to see why you call us "stupid". But we shall see, won't we.
"If after all the rigorous scrutiny, you find that any claim of the life after death is based on a hard objective evidence, then there is no reason for you not to believe in life after death."
You got that right!!! Your scrutiny, although very thought provoking, brings more light to my light, more Faith to my Faith. And more power to my belief in GOD! One day, you will see what in this world, you can not prove. I hope it is in the right terms, and I'll pray for you. Thank you for a quick journey into your minds.
And yes … I agree the genes of morality are within in us ... The reason humankind can agree on certain morality issues (even at the ripe age of 3) is that all people were created in the image of God. There are universal moral laws and they exist in us because we are all created in God's image.
P.S. – "We are born, reproduce, and then do the decent thing and die"
I don't think so. There is much more to it than this. God help you.

For what reason should I believe there is nothing beyond death?

So on your death bed, you have nothing to look forward to, except non-existence? In such a case, there appears to be absolutely no purpose in this life? There seems to be no reason for us to be here ...
