Is there any chance jesus_christ_himself could magic up a new link to the Edinburgh festival as its expired, I'd be mighty disapointed if this miracle cannot be performed.

Thanks

Not keen on the A logo but very keen about being an atheist.

Question: Why are some people just not bothered about be'lie'f v non be'lie'f and don't want to enter into the conversation? Can somebody please do some more research on inteligence and it's correlation with belief and whether there is a testable psychosis common to the devout. Then and only then can we prove scientifically that they are all mad and get them locked up. We don't want to be flogging a dead horse here do we?

Yes it would appear that unreasonable people infiltrate even the justice system. I shudder to think that darwin2 may have offered his professional opinion in a court of law.

Lord the injustice!

IMO this undermining of our way of life should be countered by stricter laws on school curriculums, and banning of religious indoctrination in children as long as they are raised in our democracies. Children should not be allowed to hold religious belief until say the age of 16.

Attack religion at every turn!

Has anybody here actualy considered that people like darwin2 actually possess psychiatric disorders. It explains a lot for me as I am just "recovering" from a relationship with a woman who has Borderline Personality Disorder. This and conditions like these leave the victim in a delusional state even after you drill the truth into them with a pneumatic drill. Nothing we say will ever change the way they think so don't waste your time and walk away.

Fortunately this variation of human brain will not be naturaly selected and most people will have a co-operative nature that is open to questioning everything, in the west at least!

Please ignore Darwin2, he is an intelectual and emotional vaccum and will suck you dry like a vampire.

Thanks
I'm a teapot!

What helps us live with the fact that we will cease to exist, is the complete freedom of thought we possess. Options to think about such as re-incarnation,life after death and God are all valid thoughts to have in our heads while we contemplate existence. Whether instilled by stories, books, movies, music, pictures or anything at all we want to imagine, It's this freedom of thought that hopefully strikes a healthy balance leading to a healthy state of mind.

It's the way atheists think not what they think that matters. A methodical open mind is key.

The problem is unyielding obstinance indoctrinated by group delusional teachings. I as an atheist would never want to stiffle thought but really would prefer it if more people were just plain reasonable and would get their chip off their shoulder, admit the truths, acknowledge the falsehoods and just flow with current knowledge.

Some people say it would be boring if the whole planet was atheist. I think it would be much more interesting as we could start cults of belief wherever there was a scientific gap (do these exist?) and argue amongst ourselves, with complete open minds, whilst being free from the time wasting theists - I think if there is a God and we need to know about it, then God will pop up somewhere, sometime, all of his own, otherwise; lets just forget about the orbiting teapot for now shall we?

I don't see how being an atheist can help with the "Terror Management" of the actual moment of death as we will all physically die regardless of our beliefs and will experience that pain unless your lucky enough to be unconscious at the time. I do however think that being an atheist prevents one from wishing to cross the terror of actual death in the hope of a better second existence, so there is probably a big plus to us all being atheists there!

I do see how accepting your loved ones aren't ever coming back, after their death, can speed up emotional healing. This could allow oneself to just be content with the memories you have of them alive instead of worrying about their pergatory or constantly trying to do something like tell them you love them for the last time through a medium or such like. Harsh as it sounds I think forgetting rather than dwelling is advantageous, so there is probably a big plus to us all being atheists there too!

However I fear that all people may not be capable of this peace in understanding and level of consciousness - I challenge everybody to rise to it. Teach someone the scientific method and you may hopefully have the makings of a contented atheist.
