Comment #114094 by GBG on January 21, 2008 at 11:13 am
I usually like to have a good laugh at the religious, What with them being complete cretins and all. But this kind of stuff makes me absolutely furious. I resent having to read the abuse that religious scum gets away with and not being able get a stick of my own and start beating on some real demons.
2. An Open Letter to Richard Dawkins
Comment #96937 by GBG on December 11, 2007 at 6:07 am
At what point are we going to stop dignifying these tired arguments with rational answers? We continuously kick the shit out of these facile arguments only to have the same argument presented a few minutes later.
The goal for these people isn't win, They know they can't, Their goal is simply to extend the argument forever so that they can't lose, And they do it by constantly regurgitating their standard half dozen arguments only to have us constantly dignify them with a response.
Let's stop being "hobby atheists".

I congratulated him and said no more.
4. Daniel Dennett Debates Dinesh D'Souza
Comment #92752 by GBG on December 1, 2007 at 11:48 am
While these debates interest me and i enjoy watching them, I can't help but think it's a complete waste of time.
The only person on that stage with the intellectual ability to change his mind is Dan Dennett.
Christians have had centuries of evidence contradicting their scriptures and blowing their "reasons" for believing in god out of the water, and they still hold their facile beliefs. It's pointless to have a "battle" where one side is able to concede defeat and the other only able to deny that they were defeated.
Was Pat Condell right when he said debating these people is nothing more than a "hobby"?

ahh, The "religion of peace". Like all religions you can tell what they are like by simply imagining the exact opposite of what they claim to be.
I can't even begin to describe the utter hatred and contempt i have for these brutal savages. It makes me actually feel sick (actually, Not metaphorically) that these savage barbarians are responsible for the enforcement (and more often than not the creation) of such primitive and unfair rules and punishments which usually see women as the perpetrator of crimes even when it's patently obvious that they are the victims.
The muslim world is a cancer.
7. This Friday: Debate between Dan Dennett and Dinesh D'Souza
Comment #91539 by gbg on November 28, 2007 at 2:19 pm
You can tell D'Souza has a book to tout. otherwise he wouldn't constantly allow himself to be humiliated by intelligent, respectable scientists, commentators and thinkers.
I still thing RD should do D'Souza. really put this twerp in his place once and for all.
8. Islam and the modern world don't mix
Comment #91327 by GBG on November 28, 2007 at 3:57 am
These people are primitive animals and i am sick of them.
I hope we don't validate their brutal behaviour by trying to have any kind of dialogue with them. We need to tell them that either they can release her free of charge or we will send people to get her out. Simple as that.

Comment #89463 by GBG on November 20, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Are any representatives of the "religion of peace" putting their hands in their pockets to protect Hirsi Ali from people who will no doubt be called "not real muslims" by any "real muslims" who read this?

You know scooternyc, Just because you believe in evolution by natural selection doesn't mean you can't stand in it's way and help someone in need. You are giving the "atheists have no morals" argument a lot of weight here.
After listening to you speak what i can only describe as selfish filth, I have to come to the conclusion that if i was in need of help i would much rather see a christian coming towards me than yourself.
Some people aren't in a position to even make decisions that effect their lives. Some people are born straight in to destitute poverty and disability. But that's not your problem, right? You have a comfy life and that's all you know, To hell with everyone else. "I'm alright, jack" - As we say in the UK.

I think the point he was making is that if people can go to their church for help, Money, Medicine or shelter Atheism has to also provide that should people need it, Otherwise religion will always have a place and will always provide something atheism doesn't.
We have to look at it like this;
If we want rid of religion (which i assume most do) we have to be prepared to replace the small amount of good that it done.
15. Science can answer how questions but only religion can answer why questions
Comment #81663 by GBG on October 25, 2007 at 2:28 am
Science can very much tell us why we are here. Our purpose is no different than the beetle or the field mouse, Try to stay alive and have some babies.
16. You can't prove that you love someone, so don't expect proof of God
Comment #81654 by GBG on October 25, 2007 at 2:15 am
I can't prove i love someone because "love" exists only in my brain. Is god unprovable for the same reason?
17. Pascal's Wager
Comment #81384 by GBG on October 24, 2007 at 4:37 pm
Isn't pascals wager demolished simply because of the sheer number of religions?
Christians often fall foul of assuming it's atheism or Christianity. Like RD said when he was asked "what if you are wrong?", The answer is simply, "what if you are wrong?"
18. Interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Comment #80365 by GBG on October 21, 2007 at 1:08 pm
I like Ayaan Ali and admire her for standing up after what she has gone through, But this idea of "it's the wests fault" could be misconstrude as; "you can take the girl out of islam, But you can't take islam out of the girl".
Blaming the west for putting up with Islam it is like blaming a battered wife for not leaving her husband - Yeah there is something she could have done, But it's ultimately his fault.

No doubt we will get some bizarre rationalisation from the religious that allows them to carry on believing primitive myths in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary.

26. Do you have to read up on leprechology before disbelieving in them?
Comment #70932 by GBG on September 17, 2007 at 9:28 am
It seems any old shit can get published, As long as it criticizes atheism and defends religion. I had a picture in my head of everyone sitting around and nodding in agreement while reading stanfords article, Never once using an ounce of critical though.
You don't have to read up on Leprechology before disbelieving, But it's damn rude to not read someones book before having an opinion on it.
27. Youtube hater, I respect your right to free speech.
Comment #70551 by GBG on September 16, 2007 at 2:40 am
I agree with what the RRS stand for, But i do believe sapients approach gives them an easy target. Not because what he is saying is incorrect, But because his approach gives them reason to direct their responses at his personality and the way he puts his argument. And this gives us a long drawn out argument where both sides are basically calling each other "stinky poo poo faces" over and over again.
28. Enough religion. Stop shoving it down my throat

30. We need a more intelligent religion debate
Comment #68663 by GBG on September 8, 2007 at 3:24 am
Unfortunately to make religious debates more intelligent they would have to not include a religious person. As this article demonstrates, There is a direct link between a belief god and the inability to have a well thought out reasoned opinion.
And i have no idea what hobson sees in a rave or sporting event that would make it "religious". Seems he, Like most apologists, is simply trying to cloud the water around the definition of what religion is. He is trying to turn the definition of religion in to something he is better suited (smart enough) to defend with some degree of success.
