I've just caught up with a recording of Part 3 and thought it excellent.
The intent of the series has been well discussed here and elsewhere. As a theme, some more negative reviewers have pointed to a lack of real in-depth explanation of Darwinism - i.e. natural selection and the science and evidence behind it. Thats fair comment; but would anyone here like to suggest where we might find the best ''70s/'80 Horizon style, do it to death, in-depth science documentary on the subject can be found. Or has it yet to be made?
2. The God disunion: there is a place for faith in science, insists Winston

This discussion prompts me to throw in a separate but related observation regarding the relative ranking of Lord Winston and Professor Dawkins on the 'establishment' acceptability scale; in the UK at least. Specifically, is there significance in the fact that the National Portrait Gallery has in the last year exhibited both a large oil painting and poster sized photo of Winston, while keeping its two 1990s B&W photos of Dawkins in store (they have no painting on file). Goes without saying as a keen artist and atheist myself I'd be happy to do my bit to put that right!

I find myself in something of a dilemma. I'd like to read these, but at same time can't bear to put money in these guys' pockets
