Christopher Hitchens warned of this sort of thing in 2006. It was a powerful speech.

3. Police: Girl Dies After Parents Pray for Healing Instead of Seeking Medical Help

mmurry, That is a good question. I've often wondered why the most devout christians do no simply lie down in a field and have faith that god will provide for them. I base what I said on the following passage. John 14: 12-14.
"12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

This...so sad.
The thing is moderate Christians will agree with each and everyone one of us on this site that the parents should have gotten medical help. These parents however actually believe more in the bible and its fairy tales than the moderates. They are "better" christians than them. According to their bible this should have worked out.
I'm worried about the other two kids, one thinks they should be taken away from the parents.

You can't make this stuff up really. Let me guess, Richard wore one of those funny glasses with the mustache and big nose and slipped in covertly. Or perhaps....he "blinded them with science!" (sorry, I had to)
Of course I would expect PZ to be able to accomplish that as well so I'm leaning towards the funny glasses.
7. Admitting that you have no religion is not politically correct

Nonsense. Try to start a club for satan worshipers and see how far that gets. I'd venture a guess that their tolerance for religious belief doesn't stretch that far.
The founders of this club need to stand up against this.

9. Sam Harris debate with Rabbi David Wolpe

I agree with the majority of the comments here. Sam Harris has his finger on the pulse of where this argument is going. He is very impressive. God has only a few places left to exist, the very beginning of it all, the quantum level and consciousness. These areas are being encroached upon by science.
Much respect to Mr. Wolpe. He presented his arguments clearly and politely. I would like to see him debate again.

From the interview
"But if you ask me whether a scientific experiment could verify the Resurrection, I would say such an event is entirely too important to be subjected to a method which is devoid of all religious meaning."
Bingo...
