A true intellectual hero of mine...its a travesty when we lose someone so well spoken. its hard to replace someone capable of such well executed verbosity.

haha, let them come...it proves that Dawkins, Dennett, Harris, and Hitch are having an impact and making people sweat. This is a good thing, because you have to remember that anybody the "new atheists" have converted will not be re-swayed by the constant barrage of the same old arguments religion has always put forth. Re-wording the same logical falacies, and inconsistencies will not fool us rational people.
4. CBC News: Sunday - Richard Dawkins

what the hell just happened?
In the past CBC interviews and interviewers have been at least in part reasonable. This guy was behaving as though this was a practical interview for a spot on O'Reilly's show.
I guess that is what you get on sunday...thank Zeus that mainstream CBC stuff during the week is less.......well less like that!

Daksian: I think I will take offence to your extreme misunderstanding of Canadian people as they relate to geographical location. I have had the HONOUR of living all across this country and being born in the west and I can say unequivocably that religious stupidity is no more rampant out here in the west than it is in Ottawa or anywhere else in the east. What you said is equally ridiculous to the claims of the religious people and their god, and your bigotry is more appaling. I am ashamed that a fellow Canadian would take that view of others...you should be ashamed of yourself!

Wait a minute....WE pick and choose our morals? That seems almost laughable when they pick and choose to suit the times from their pathetic book of moral guidance.
8. Response to Theodore Dalrymple

It seems to me that it doesn't matter that the so called "new atheists" aren't bringing anything new to the table (which is demonstrably wrong anyway), because the old arguments against god should be sufficient to make any rational person a non-believer anyway.
I am inclined to agree when people say that there may be a jealousy issue at play here. I am also drawn to contemplate the statement that Dalrymple (and others) make regarding the fact that the "new atheists" tend to focus on the negative history of religion, and ignore all the good. First off, I have read references to the good deeds of religion in all the "big four" authors' books, which should, in theory, make this statement a little bit of a non-truth. Secondly why should the so called good deeds of religion make up for all of the atrocities committed in the name of all things holy? It doesn't in my book. Religion should be made to answer for the atrocities of the past before it should even be considered for praise for the good deeds.
