1. Council ban on atheist websites

If workers at Birmingham CC are allowed to use the internet for 'personal usage' during their lunch breaks, rest breaks etc (as many businesses and organisations allow), it is absolutely preposterous that websites relating to 'atheism' (or even witchcraft for that matter!) are banned, whilst christian and muslim sites are deemed acceptable.
It seems a clear case of discrimination, but I would be interested in hearing from the council themselves as to what their policy actually is...the extract from the council's statement in the article doesn't make that clear.

And there was me thinking this article would be about the excellent Trappist brewers of Flanders, Belgium. How disappointing.

So was slavery. 'Nuff said.

I don't think that's a good analogy at all. Aboloishing slavery always a far easier proposition. You pass laws, you create economic alternatives...you persuade people that it is no longer viable to keep slaves (even if they still think it is ethically acceptable to do so).
You can create a framework where slavery just isn't possible..I don't see how you can you rid the world of religion in the same way.
4. Evolution to be taught in SA schools

"At a recent conference on teacher training, a teacher said: 'I am disappointed about the fact that evolution attacks God's creation. It also mixes Genesis with idol worshippers of Babylon, which were never there when God created planet Earth.' "
Can someone explain to me why this individual wasn't shown the door as soon as these words left his/her mouth?
