1. The Moral Instinct

Comment #110928 by Scot Dutchy on January 13, 2008 at 8:41 am

Mother Teresa was one of the most evil people ever to walk on the earth. She would only help people who were willing to convert to catholism. She would refuse medicine saying that prayer would be better. She should not be part of any comparism. Bill Gates at least puts his money where mouth is!

2. I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist

Comment #81709 by Scot Dutchy on October 25, 2007 at 4:22 am

The fact that one does not believe is for a theist an impossible thought. You must believe in something is always the cry. I just do not accept any notion of a god or having a faith in something. I have no doubt about at all. I just feel very sorry for people who need a crutch. Moralistically I would say an atheist is far better to trust than a theist because his morals are based on being a true human being and not being part of a herd and following a dogma laid down by some organisation

3. Norway flourishes as secular nation

Comment #77021 by Scot Dutchy on October 8, 2007 at 7:48 am

Comment 24 mentions The Netherlands also as an example. While in some ways things are similer to Norway there are big differences. Here religion is part of politics. The present government is a coalition of Christian Democrats, Christian Union and the Labour Party.
The Dutch Reform Church is the official church.
I am also afraid that fundimentalism is very strong here especially in the bible belt (oh we do have one!). Even the Prime Minister is one.
Remember Amsterdam is not The Netherlands
