1. Conversation between Richard Dawkins and John Lennox

Prepare yourself for his evidence (scientific and subjective) of the existence of God:
1. ...that the Universe is rationally intelligible (indicates that the "primary thing" of the Universe is a mind)
2. ...historical evidence (life, death, resurrection of Christ)
3. ...personal experience.
"and it all counts as evidence", he says. Really now? That we are able to make sense of the Universe is highly debatable because, in fact, we "make sense" of only a tiny portion of it, which begs the question of why God would create so many distant, majestic galaxies beyond sight and so many bewildering things in the quantum world, and keep his greatest creation blind to it all. The historical "evidence" of Jesus's life is nonexistent outside of the New Testament and three semi-contemporary comments from Rome. This is of no use to anyone who isn't already a believer. And the last bit of received truth practically is a challenge to me: Dare to call me a liar!
None of this is evidence.
2. Logical Proof of the Existence of a Divine Creator, Why Atheism is Not Logically Sound

Brilliant. The "things are exactly as they seem" argument works perfectly because it´s, well, self-evident. So,
The earth is flat and the sun goes around it; falling leaves in Autumn cause the day to become shorter; everyone else is getting older but I remain young forever; my kids think I´m brilliant; my ideas are all good ones; when I squint just so...and pray for it to happen...the light changes to green: Thank Ya, Jesus!!!

Nattyadams,
"Say what you will about America, I'm happy that we're not (yet) shamefully grovelling to the hurt sensibilities of religious groups and tripping over ourselves to hand over our right to offend (and therefore the entire concept of true freedom of speech.)"
Are you serious or is it irony? If speech were so free here, maybe our politicians wouldn´t be afraid to admit their apostasy. We even have to import Professor Dawkins (thanks, Richard!) because we´re too chickenshit to stand up as individuals and declare that God doesn´t exist.
4. How to reconcile Richard Dawkins?
Comment #172612 by DarrenGriz on April 29, 2008 at 7:21 pm
I had much higher hopes for the article. Perhaps, I thought, a new argument would be presented to challenge the Professor, or even better, new evidence that would demand a rethinking of assumptions.
Instead, I see the same tired crap. I summarize:
--Richard, aren´t you really saying that atheists would destroy the world because they lack a sufficient faith in Jesus?
--I´m not implying that at all. Did you ready the book and what I actually argue?
--Well, Richard, you seem so nice. Surely you know that Jesus has kept the world safe and snuggly except for when atheists got their guns?
I don´t know how he finds the patience with these superficial gnats.

I beg forgiveness for this rant in this thread: the quote came up and I reacted to it out of the context. So, with apologies...
"If god is dead, then everything is permitted"
Is anyone else as fed up as I am with hearing this quotation? It is the lowest sort of scaremongering argument because if you take its point, the truth of existence/non-existence is irrelevant. Please point out this hypocrisy to any Christian who dares bring it up.

At least the song got it right.
7. Richard Dawkins' secular army must be stopped. God is behind some of our greatest art
Comment #161145 by DarrenGriz on April 14, 2008 at 11:38 pm
This article declares that human imagination (Delusion) has inspired more human imagination (Art). This is truly groundbreaking, and told in such bold, vivid language. One for the ages here, my dears. Mark my words, you'll remember this day hereafter as if the Earth had stood still. Although it didn't.
8. Are Darwin's Theories Fact or Faith Issues?
Comment #158510 by DarrenGriz on April 10, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Is Simmons for real?! The opening comments alone were nothing more than a laundry list of "hot button" words with no substance but designed to play to his sympathizers: the ignorant faithheads. PZ perhaps shouldn't have accepted this debate; it makes the Discovery Institute almost respectable. What do they discover there anyway?
...I'm 3/4 in to the debate. Simmons just challenged PZ on...the brain! I would have felt sorry for him, but he soldiers on without a leg to stand on...hauling himself to his doom with ignorant tongue flapping.
Favorite debate moment: Simmons talking about the complexity of the brain saying "It is beyond MY comprehension that this could have come about by trial and error." The Great Simmons has declared it all impossible, so pack your gear, you Scientists, and go home!

Hurray. From the first moment I heard that nearly all Africans and Asians were lactose intolerant, I wondered about the groups that lived on milk and blood. Mystery addressed.
10. Pastor attacks scientist's talk
Comment #154701 by DarrenGriz on April 3, 2008 at 3:22 pm
So, his sole interest is to "advance a polemic"...unlike, say, Mr. Robertson's book, or the good pastor's demand for an equal crack at the professor on Dawkins' stage?
Why are God's chosen so discontented with their Sundays that they have to go after everyone else's weekdays, too?

Of course the poor lad died after a few too many beers: clearly an immoral wretch. And that school coach´s proper JOB is to teach the good news of Jesus, isn´t it?
Pathetic.
