GermanMike, I don't get it. Are you referring to something I said?
I completely agree though, sometimes it's difficult to judge whether these people are being honest or hypocritical, or if it's all just a joke. Unfortunately, most of the time it's one of the first two options.
Re:Ignoring these books: That's not exactly my personal opinion, I was merely explaining the meaning of the flea metaphor. Personally, I also delve into far too much apologetic stuff for my own mental health.
A Tip: You can download an audiobook version of Chesterton's "Everlasting Man" at http://www.archive.org/details/EverlastingMan

GermanMike, the flea thing is an (IMHO slighlty over-used) insider joke on these boards. Like Greyman explained it refers to the kind of spin-off books to be seen at the top of this thread. The origin of the term is this Yeats quote:

"Twere politic to do the like by these;
But was there ever dog that praised his fleas?"

The point being that they should better be ignored, in order not to give them more credit than they deserve.

I just listened to Mohler's lectures, the ones Ashley (Comment #221776) linked to, and found them to be rather interesting in terms of how he systematically distorts what the "Fantastic Four" (I prefer that to the "Four Horsemen") actually say.
Since Mohler's preaching to the choir he doesn't need to fight neither Eel- (McGrath) nor Scorpion-style (D'souza) and is fairly upfront. The result is a fascinating - if sickening - vista of the evangelical world-view and agenda.

5. Debate between Christopher Hitchens and Dinesh D'Souza

Is it an ad hominem to say that in Harry Potter D'Souza would be a Slytherin?

Anyway, it was funny when he quoted Shakepeare about no one ever having come back from the dead, about ten minutes after defending the veracity of Jesus' resurrection.
