1. Malaysia firm's 'Muslim car' plan

Comment #88298 by notbadfora human on November 15, 2007 at 10:03 pm

"The car could boast special features like a compass pointing to Mecca and a dedicated space to keep a copy of the Koran and a headscarf"

You have got to be fucking kidding.

2. Secular Fundamentalists: There is no such thing...and the AAI conference doesn't make atheism a movement, either.

I read Dougherty's article, and it pisses me off no end that arseholes him get a public forum to lie and misrepresent in this way. But I guess that isn't surprising as the religious apologists are getting worried, and I'm sure we'll hear more of this whenever there are any "dissenting" voices within the 'aetheist (sorry, Sam!) community'.

I thought Kelly's blow by blow riposte to his bullshit was excellent.

"I like the new Brady Bunch panels on the front page"

Snicker snicker.

Anyone remember "Celebrity Squares"?

"God is for me the foundation of everything that is. Life seems to me to be absolutely meaningless outside of a relationship with Him"

I love this stuff. No point in living without a relationship with an imaginary friend... Guess I'd better go back to bed then.

ADH, you seem an OK, sort-of-normal kind of fellow. Please, please share with us the evidence on which you base your belief in God (excluding waffle which incorporates verbage such as "I exist, the world is beautiful, therefore there is a God" etc)..

"Woohoo! Nice one"

Yes, indeed. Now how about mp3 files for the other talks given during this meeting? Anybody?

6. Are the 'New Atheists' avoiding the 'real arguments'?

Comment #83833 by notbadfora human on October 31, 2007 at 12:32 pm

Just wonderful.

I've often listened to the debates and wanted the McGraths and DeSouza's of the world to be pinned down on these fundamentals every time, but they seem to be able to slip away with vacuosity, and diversion ("well, what I would want to say in reply might go something like...").

Questions about morality, ethical teachings etc are all open to philosophical bullshitting, but these core beliefs are dogma and indefensible.

7. AAI 07 DVDs by RDFRS are Now Available!

Comment #83704 by notbadfora human on October 31, 2007 at 1:57 am

Are there any plans to release (or give us access to) mp3 files of these presentations? Some of us don't have the time to watch so many DVDs, but have lots of time to listen while driving, riding trains etc...

8. Lessons in hate found at leading mosques

Comment #83656 by notbadfora human on October 30, 2007 at 7:54 pm

"I hate to be the one to say it but we REALLY need exponential growth chart here people..how many of you are willing to bet that we have more than a few decades to set this right before it's too late?"

I don't think we have a few decades. Within a few years Iran or some other fundamentalist group will have access to WMD. Then we are fucked. Our pale blue dot will become one faded brown pimple and some other race (Cockroaches?) will inherit the earth. In time, they will find God and religion, and start arguing... and the circle will be complete...

9. Pope's 'morning after pill' speech criticized

Comment #83653 by notbadfora human on October 30, 2007 at 7:44 pm

"Health Minister Livia Turco said that while the Pope had the right to urge young people to be sexually responsible..."

Really? What right does a 70 year old virgin have to lecture anyone on sexual relations?

10. Tests of faith over 'The Golden Compass'

"a bit of a tempest in a teapot"

Would that be the china teapot orbiting the sun?

Bil(ius) Donahue and his ilk are pricks with warped world viewpoints. Catholic League... let them do their worst. As it has been pointed out, this will only get more bums on cinema seats.

"it will "seduce" parents into buying Pullman's "pro-atheist" book"

Really? I remember reading this book years ago and couldn't have cared less about it's not-so-subtle subcontext. How many kids will give a shit about that when you have armored polar bears?!
