What about the rest of Saudi Arabia's potential oil fields. Which have not even been explored yet? You are certainly only talking about currently discovered oil fields.
You are right that increases in fuel prices will damage the economy because of the increase in food prices. That seems to be the most immediate problem.

lastgreekstanding,
Wellity wellity. The ignoble smasher of racism crawls forth from his cave. To, sans but one meager spot of evidence, ignorantly belittle an exceptional thinker... Keith, not SH.
Sabra and Shatila, the Phalangists, encouraged by Ariel Sharon and the Israelis. Quite a good point, and one I raised myself. But this is one instantiation of Christian Arab violence... I cited several more, in support of your vain efforts. There is no doubt that Muslims excel at violence, as well as other perversions of humanity... Such as slavery, concubinage, child rape, and indifference to suffering.
Can you cite for me some instances when Christian Arabs raped 8 year old girls, claiming Christianity as a motivation? Or when they traded in slaves, citing Christianity as a source of legitimacy? Of course not.
The fundamental failuer in your flailing attempt at reason and logic is that one sees a definitive cause of Christian violence, namely Israeli occupation and Palestinian violence in Lebanon. The benighted commentator may well say "Well, certainly the Muslim violence can be attributed to occupation as well." Indeed it could, although we must take their word for it when they say it is Islam that drives their ideology, but no matter, I can concede the point.
But then how do we account for Egyptian violence against women, and the Coptic Christian minority? How then do we account for the Sudanese Janjawee Arabs cleansing the south of Sudan? How do we account for suicide bombers striking in Gulf states, where their only victims are other Muslim Arabs?
It would also be important to note that Arab-Muslim violence predates occupations, and can be found when the Arabs themselves were occupiers. And we can go back to before Islam and see incessant tribal warfare between the Arabs. Islam is a reformulation of this deadly tribal ethos, creating a larger dichotomy between Kufr and Islam.
We can also serve our purposes (that is if you too wish to see the truth come to light) by looking at the kind of violence that takes place. The Arab-Muslims in Iraq have just sent an 8 year old girl into a crowded area and detonated the bomb strapped to her chest (she probably didn't know it was a bomb) from a distance. Or when they used two women with Downs Syndrome to carry remotely detonated bombs into a crowded market. When have Christians or Atheist Arabs done this? How about brutally beheading innocent aid workers, who committed the sin of trying to help feed poor and suffering Iraqis? Islam teaches beheading, Christianity and Atheism do not. This is a specialty of Islam, and there is no denying such a thing.
When the Christians used violence they used it as a political tool, one objectives were reached it subsided. But Islam, continues its deadly march. To withdraw our forces would be to invite further attacks on US and European soil. Reparations would be void as a concession of defeat and weakness. For the serious Muslim the only acceptable Middle East is one with 6 million dead Jews, dead "apostates", and Christians paying a poll tax in a religiously apartheid state.
It is people like you who these people so laugh at, not me, but Muslims. Useful idiot, I can't remember the Arabic word for that, but believe me those many radical Muslims view you as such.

Comment #180525 by al-rawandi on May 15, 2008 at 6:54 am
And here is the nail in the coffin of the foolish Socialist/Communist.
Let's take the suggestion of "no currency" and begin from there. This is a system which must necessarily be imposed on the economy. So let's take two examples, a real capitalist country (USA) and a hypothetical socialist utopia.
In the US, if I wish, I can withdraw from the economy and get some people together, go live on some land, live communally and never use currency. This is quite possible, and people do that here in the US, it is because people here are free to live their lives as they choose. In another capitalist country (Israel) people live in a communal fashion on the Kibbutzim. They are free to do that.
Let's take this hypothetical utopia of socialism. There is no currency, and all are treated equally. Now what if I wanted to get some people together go live on some land, farm it, divide it up amongst people, and create a currency system. We could make our own money, and never bother the system. There is no way that such a socialist country would allow this behavior. It would have to crush it, because people on the outside would see this model, and people becoming successful due to their efforts. The government would have to crush this model, or the state would have to confiscate the money and lands.
Can anyone see the difference. If people are asked, they usually choose to have the opportunity to flourish based solely on their efforts and abilities.
In a captialist country, use of resources is determined by amount of capital possessed and some government regulation. If I like to drive to Los Angeles every weekend to visit, I can do so, so long as I can afford it. I am free to do this. In this no-currency country, how are these resources allocated?
If I want to drive to LA, I would need more resources, how does the government alot these resources? Do I have to apply to some bureaucracy months in advance? What if my father in LA is sick, and I need to fly there once a week? How does the government deal with these wants and needs, without a currency system?
The fundamental issue is that a socialist systems such as D'Arcy has suggested (and as Marx suggested) is doomed to failure, simply because of the massive government system that would be required to micro-manage everyone's lives. It would grow so inefficient so quickly, that the populace would be utterly fed up and would wish to return to a system of liberty where they can make decisions for themselves, even if that is limited by possession of capital.
Socialism crushes itself under its own weight. People prefer freedom to do what they please, even if this is limited by financial status.
Poor people flock to the United States, not to Cuba.
No one ever got shot going east over the Berlin Wall.

Well let's see what those workers got.
They stayed poor. And all the people that were well to do got poor as well. Therefore everybody lost, big time.
You are dogmatically tied to this fairytale notion of socialism (an insane and inoperable version sans currency), it seems unlikely that you will be disuaded. The burden is on the socialist to show one reason why it is better, just one. Historically they are disproven and even theoretically they are disproven. They cling to the notion that there is some perfect world where socialism works. Well there is such a world where free markets work perfectly. The problem is neither world exists, and in the real world (a place few socialists ever visit) a country centered around a free, yet appropriately regulated, market with effective social programs is the best. No wageless society will work, no wageless world will work. It doesn't take a difficult thought experiment to figure this out.
My conclusions are wrong????? Please go back to the Manifesto and look at the end of the penultimate section, where Marx and Engels write that populations must be moved from urban areas and spread throughout the countryside. How is that going to be achieved if not through a return to pre-Industrial society, and/or forced relocation? The implication is obvious.
D'Arcy can I ask what you currently do for a living?

The growing trend is really here in the West now. it is a trend wherever there is creeping westernization. Palestinian universities experienced it. So it is prevelant in US universities as well. I had classes with at least 4 girls who did not wear the hijab, but later chose to wear it (chose meaning there was no husband to force them, I am not ruling out a father's pressure). In a Middle Eastern Country which is impotent, and sees an increase in westernization, there may be a push back, part of which is wearing the veil.

I was actually thinking of Cormac McCarthy's book "The Road". I think this is a good portrayal of what might be in store for our future. People always seem to think they can fix our impact on the earth. Like evolution owes it to us to let us keep living. Bah.
The real issue is there are too many fucking stupid people, like in India for instance, screwing away, breeding like rabbits, consuming resources, polluting the environment, remaining completely ignorant of the world's problems. Hell there are too many of those people here in the US. To fix a lot of these problems you will have to unstupid people. And if you look at how that has worked out on RD.net, you will lose hope. Try convincing a wooter like brain of anything rational.
And plenty of religious people are eager for the end of the world to come.

Fanusi,
You are missing Islam's subtle reference to "That which the right hand possesses." Meaning your slave girls, whom you may copulate with and procreate with, and do about anything you want with. Muslims generally say "It doesn't say rape", but that dodges the point that it doesn't say "Do not rape". A passage that reads "Fuck your slave girls anytime you want, they are your possession" is quite easily used to allow for rape. And which country was cited by Human Rights Watch as rape central??>???? Saudi Arabia. These retarded bedouins hire Phillipino maids, and then think they can fuck them anytime they want. These idiots have yet to realize that employing a foreign laborer is a little different than owning a slave. Even then, they are using Islam to justify the rape of women trying, desperately, to escape poverty.

I am issuing a challenge. Fanusi has said here and in other forums that he would be eager to become an American citizen. He has also denounced Islam and said he supports a war on Islam and Muslims. I can solve all of this in one swoop.
The lovely thing about America, is that now, if you are a non-citizen and choose to serve in the armed forces, after your tour you will be granted citizenship. Fanusi will be able to gain his citizenship, and fight Muslims the way he brazenly claims he is dying to.
So Fanusi,
At your request I will begin inquiring at the local Army recruiting office how we can get you enlisted in the military, to back up your swaggering bravado, and to get you citizenship. I for one would be happy to have another American who is as dedicated to the Constitution and Secularism as you are, and I know the Army would love another warm body. What a useless contribution to only ever criticize one world view, and one ideology. There are a bunch of worldviews, all militating against one another, with deadly results.
Fanusi's obsession resembles the warlike obsession with "Eurasia". When Fanusi comes here, it is the "Two Minutes Hate", Fanusi stands up and hurls dictionaries at the face of "Goldstein" and then leaves, commenting on how wonderful "Ingsoc" is. It is fanatical. I had with held judgment on the matter, giving him every opportunity to at least fake like he could criticize someone other than a Muslim, or more specifically an Arab.

Scum in Lebanon. I am not dancing around that. I slept through the lecture on Lebanon, believe it or not. Late night drinking. I will have to go back through some publications before I feel I can comment.
I didn't say no one knew that the Mufti was anti-semitic. What I said was, it is incorrect to assume every Arab who supported him did so because he had allied himself with the Nazis. If you have some proof of this, you could show us now. Or you could continue on this same war path of insinuation and labrinthine guesswork.
I didn't say "of course" Rumsfeld knew. I noted that some people suggest that he did, and that there is plenty of evidence that officers well up the chain of command knew what was going on. This can be found on Wikipedia among other places.
I didn't skate over the Stanford Experiment, I mentioned it and discussed it. The point being that there needs to be controls on these "ordinary" people who you keep insisting simply get out of line from time to time.
As for your final two posts. You have referred to Arabs as "scum" and "rats", you have done this elsewhere with other terms. A number of people here have said you are using anti-religious attitudes to float your specific brand of "racism". I have reserved judgment, but you aren't giving me much to work with here.

Caudimordax,
Well having discussed this with many Muslim women, I notice they defend the institutions most vigorously. In fact on Egyptian University campuses, women have taken to wearing the veil as a way of asserting their identity. It shouldn't be assumed that Islamism is solely male dominated.
I think you let Islamists come to power, and let them fuck up a country or two. I don't see another answer. People assume there is a good solution if we just look for it hard enough. Killing Muslims en masse seems to create more hostility, while leaving them alone has never been tried. I think the answer may be obvious, but we need to reserve the right to self defense.
So if you allow a Muslim government to rise to power in say.... Iraq. If there was an attack which was organized and supported by Iraq, you would have greater options to retaliate, because if a state attacks you, you are entitled to retaliate against this state in a reasonable fashion. In this case, Fanusi would get his carpet bombing of Muslims, mass deaths, and shooting of "rats".
And I would get to keep my tax money.
