as for someone banning the Ahmed ringtone?...words fail me.
Yes, and this was done by a government agency. We're supposed to have the most progressive constitution in the world, guaranteed freedom of speech....but they put in a clause banning "hate speech". And they decide what constitutes hate speech.

Meanwhile, in South Africa the muslims had an ad for a cellphone ringtone banned:
'Terrorist' ringtone advert banned
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2008/10/01
A TELEVISION advert for an "Ahmed the dead terrorist" ringtone mocked Islam and must be withdrawn, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled.
The ruling followed a complaint against the GloMobile advertisement that shows American stand-up comedian Jeff Durham holding a skeleton puppet named Ahmed with a white cloth around its head, which demands : "Silence! I kill you".
The ASA said this was offensive to Islam and created the impression that all Muslims were terrorists who would kill to get people to be quiet.
The ASA said it appeared the puppet was meant to represent a terrorist, and the name Ahmed appeared to be of Arab origin and was one of the names of the Islamic prophet Mohammed.
"To associate this divine inspiration to a terrorist is offensive to the people who believe in him (Mohammed)."
The ASA ordered GloMobile to withdraw the advert . " Sapa

This reminds me of back when I was in school, we still had Religious Instruction classes (Christian/Protestant). The first year exam had a question; "What is the difference between humans and animals?". Me being an unrepentant atheist even in Grade 1, answered; "Animals have souls, humans don't". My teacher was a wee bit upset, lol!

Oh, this is nothing, our presumptive next president, Jacob Zuma, stated that taking a shower after sex prevents AIDS. Our current president believes HIV does not cause AIDS. Our Minister of Health believes that eating beetroot and garlic cures AIDS (this from someone that had to have a liver transplant because of being an alcoholic). And to make it even better, we have two withdoctors who are Members of Parliament!

"For a flat rate of $10,000 a month, Day's insight is available for rent. She has about five monthly clients at a time..."
That's $10 000 per client. $50 000 per month to tell them woo. This is just sickening. Wish I had the guts to make that much money out of lying to people..unfortunately I have a conscience...

I still regularly see that t-shirt in metal clubs here (South Africa). I also love wearing my "Deicide" t-shirt in public and have never had any hassles. Although I was beaten up once for wearing a t-shirt with a pentagram on it!

"I saw something about this a few years ago as well, where a famine seemingly caused changes in offspring a couple of generations on."
Ah, tracked it down! It was a programme called "The Ghost in Your Genes". It is exactly what is in the above-mentioned article, they go to the community in Sweden mentioned in the article. Prof Marcus Pembrey is the chap who seems to have come across this. Very interesting programme.

"The quantity of food available to the grandparents affected the genes of their grandchildren ????"
I think the hunger/starvation has to take place before the "grandparents" reproduce, i.e. they would not be grandparents at that time, or indeed parents.
I saw something about this a few years ago as well, where a famine seemingly caused changes in offspring a couple of generations on.
