Um -- I'm pretty sure this is an Onion-style spoof demonstrating the ridiculousness of religious pandering. If it's not, I'm crawling into a hole and never coming out.

Gov. Jindal,

Please Veto SB 733! This is nothing but an attempt to get religion taught as science in public schools. Please uphold the constitution, the establishment clause, and educational standards! If creationists can provide a shred of scientific evidence for their position, let them. The schoolroom is not the place to float baseless guesses about science, or anything else. Let the creationists do the work, make them get the peer reviews. My bet is they CAN'T, because it's NOT science,

Thank you! Please save the kids of Louisiana from this religious indoctrination!

Phillip

Disturbing to think that anyone could regard Nazi Germany as a 'reasonable' place.

5. Shaw TV Interview with Richard Dawkins

Great! Really dug it. She's a little boring, but at least asked questions that go beyond the normal stuff people ask Richard. We didn't get any Stalin-atheist questions, anyway. Oh, and nice sweater!

edit: were those trucks in the video??? I thought they were on my street!

7. Happy Birthday, Richard Dawkins!

Sounds like a cheap knockoff of the style that Michael Moore has spent 20 years developing, with the old movies and film clips spliced in to lighten the seriousness of the subject matter (the Heston bit, etc.) It's tough to pull off, I'm not surprised they botched it. But it also seems like they employ the same technique to make it more grave, with the death camp footage. That's just bad filmmaking, and obnoxious and offensive to boot. I'm not surprised they're misrepresenting RD, that's about all they can do.

9. Richard Dawkins on The Alan Colmes Show

I'm laughing my ass of about Richard correcting the guy about what AD means: "Oh stop with your goofy words"! That crazy, wacky Latin! A great, great interview. Nice to hear Alan without that mouth-breathing troglodyte next to him.

10. Are Darwin's Theories Fact or Faith Issues?

Comment #120748 by beauroland on February 2, 2008 at 12:32 pm

I liked PZ's "negative campaign" metaphor. It's very appropriate; the guy kept saying he wanted to "teach the controversy" (TM) but never put forward any ideas! And I can't believe he also resorted to the "just a theory" argument; PZ clarified nicely.

Wow, what a bunch of humorless babies over at atheismsucks! They should call themselves aatheists.
But then people might think they're alcoholics.

I feel bad for Richard...he's been having to explain this stuff to think-headed folks for years now. When will they get it??

LorienRyan,

Perhaps Jullia Sweeney's book/performance "Letting Go of God"? A more humorous tale of her waking up from the spell of theism.

16. US 'doomed' if creationist president elected: scientists

Comment #108892 by beauroland on January 7, 2008 at 8:09 pm

This yokel will NOT win in New Hampshire, mark my words. On the other hand, he's the only candidate that can mobilize the evangelicals in the south and midwest. Haven't people learned NOT to vote for the "regular guy" who they want to have a beer with? That's how we got into the mess we're in now!

Only Sam Harris can use the words "bullshit" and "profundity" in the same breath. A great discussion!

I wish more religious folk were as reasonable and thoughtful as the rabbi here. Very enjoyable. Sam rocks.

It still blows me away that that dull bigot Dobson tried to kick out the VP of the NAE for his "global warming activism". As if 'left' values are automatically anti-Christian. Aren't they supposed to be stewards of the earth? No, wait, Christ is coming back soon and will make everything new, so they can go ahead and trash our planet.

Great job, Hitch, as usual. We need to stop pulling our punches with these guys. If I was running for the highest office in the land, and I said there was a disembodied voice that told me what to do, I'd certainly be asked about it, and I suppose ridiculed for it, by the press, and rightly so. But say something as ludicrous, but framed with religion, and your insulated!! ARG!

Those poor Christian punch-bags! It's got to be tought to be a powerless, impotent minority like the Christians.
