He is just trying to square the circle. How can someone understand evolution and still beleive in the fairy tales of any religion?
Only thing missing here is the lack of courage to admit that religions have no place whatsoever in any scientific circle. These type of pseudo-scholars are more pathetic than the plain-old stupid religious folks because they have successfully conned the general public into thinking that there are two sides to the evoultion theory.

Even if the real chances of it actually happenenig are remote, but even the talk by a major Presidential candidate of changing the constitution to satisfy his "Big imaginary friend's demands" is alarming.
This is from someone who has seen and experienced the followers of "Big Guy" bringing horror on to this little planet.
Remember, "Followers are always crazier than the leaders".

"Aguilar says no two atheists hold exactly the same views."
I can replace the word "atheists" with 'persons" and it will still be true.
But his views are as close to my views as I have ever heard from anyone especially the sentence "He believes that when you die, your mind and consciousness die too".

I can relate to this Politician. I am an atheist but my wife is a fundamentalist Muslim. When it comes to raising the children, I really do not have a choice. My son gets a daily feed of Quran from mother over my objections, But in order to avoid tensions in the marriage, I look the other way. Although I let my son know that I do not beleive in any sky daddy.

It is people like Hithcens and Dawkins that I need in my country to take on the faith-based bulleying that goes on everyday. But I am so surprised that in this day in age (about 150 years after Darwin), so many people will still give any credibility to any faith especially in a country like USA which has been one of the leaders in the research and developments in almost all the scientific disciplines.

"Religion of secularism"
I wish I could ask Mr Romney that if it was not for the "religion of Secularism", Could he be one of the leading Presidential candidate from the Republican Party?
I think "Men of Faith" would not have allowed him to go so far.
Hitchens and Dawkins are my Prophets. A million times better than Mohammad, Jesus or Moses.

Moderates are a rare commodity in Muslim World. And the reasons are exactly the same as they were in the Europe about 600 years ago.
Sam Harris puts it nicely in "End of Faith" as:
"The medieval church was quick to observe that the God Book was good enough to suggest a variety of means for eradicating heresy."
I myself find it hard to ignore the fact that Islam is about 600 years younger than christianity and for precisely the same reason is still living in the 14th century from western standards.
I think that reality will eventually come out and many many centuries from now there will be only one religion i.e. "Secular Humanism" and probably only one language i.e. "American English".
