1. Discussion between Richard Dawkins and Paula Kirby

Comment #157676 by Spiral on April 9, 2008 at 12:03 pm

Could somebody please log in (I don't know how to) and tell them to bypass YouTube altogether and go straight to our site, which is where they should have gone in the first place.

I did that.

Using bad english and misspellings, of course.
Sigh.

2. Richard Dawkins on The Big Questions

"Some people reckon he's the devil..."

I love prof. Dawkins smile on that one!
I'm sure some were scared to death, staring right into the eyes of the devil!

Gotta love these people, every time they say/write Mohammed, it's followed by "(peace be upon him)".

But after the first time, they use "pbuh" acronym. I wonder what Mohammed would say about that?
:D

Have I mentioned lately that I love the internet, and I love being alive here and now?

so so true, I've stated this often in the last 10 years, we are living at a most revolutionary time in human history it behooves us to embrace the significance of this moment and enjoy it!

I do not usually write here so often, but this time I had to.

Thank you and get well soon.
Keep on fighting for freedom!

7. Mother Nature is Not Our Friend

"nor has it necessarily conferred any advantage upon us beyond the capacity raise the next generation to child-bearing age. In fact, there may be nothing about human life after the age of forty (the average lifespan until the 20th century) that has been selected by evolution at all."

That's debatable.
There's a recent study that shows living grandmothers have a positive effect on the survival of their grandchildren, which is not surprising, when you think about it. They could give advice and help to their daughters.

Oh, but great article anyway!

Waiting for Prof. Dawkins reaction, since I believe he stated in The Ancestor's Tale that he's afraid of scorpions due to a painful childhood experience.

9. Young Muslims begin dangerous fight for the right to abandon faith

This raises a question:
Is there a way to support and encourage these people?

I think Hitler was somewhat religious, or at least superstitious (is there a difference?). He consulted astrologers and such, talked about god and fate...
Oh, but this is all in The God Delusion. So, after all, I didn't have much to add to the discussion!

14. The moment a teenage girl was stoned to death for loving the wrong boy

Comment #37616 by Spiral on May 5, 2007 at 11:28 am

I don't know if I should watch this or not. It makes me angry just thinking of it.

I think Sam Harris puts it as it is:
"the tendency of religion to decouple the concept of morality from issues of actual human suffering"
or something like that...

I think it puts religion where it belongs - to theme and amusement parks.
