1. Interview with Richard Dawkins

I wish people wouldn't call into radio stations while driving their car!

2. Richard Dawkins on The Big Questions

Comment #117854 by He-man Daunted World on January 29, 2008 at 8:17 pm

"Do you think god is remotely bothered ...?"

"Yes, I believe he is"

What bothers me is people who think they can speak on god's behalf. And still they accuse us of arrogance

Interesting quote from Vox Day, found via evolver23's links:

Perhaps you don't need a God to prevent you from behaving in an immoral manner. I certainly do.

Which fits nicely with a quote from PZ Myers:
Religions have spent millennia confusing ethics with obedience

I don't understand how people who think "I KNOW i'm right, to hell with the facts" can call someone like Dawkins a fundamentalist.

My handy dandy Theological dictionary says "The majority of catholic theologians agree that the soul is infused at the moment when the cells of the parents are united (not at birth: D 1185; and not upon the first intellectual act: D 1910)."

Does the man who says that religious education is tantamount to "child abuse" ...

Argh!

Is there anywhere in southeastern Australia where it's that easy to find fossils?

Comment #54429 by He-man Daunted World on July 7, 2007 at 3:31 am

That was an horrible article.

Speaking as an Aussie, I was "raised an atheist", but literally did not know what an atheist was until after i finished highschool. The word ATHEIST was never used. Regular church-goers at school were referred to as "bible bashers" and were made fun of. The rest of us were the faithless heathens (far more than 19%!!) who only ever went to church when made to sing carols at christmas, or to attend a wedding, or funeral.

I suppose that people like me are considered "cultural christians", but honestly, our real religion is sport, not christianity.

Forget the arts/science divide. This confirms that scientists don't even know their science.

"Maybe God sees suffering on our planet but has very good, unknowable reasons for allowing it to continue."

Maybe god's just a sadistic bastard.

Comment #33994 by He-man Daunted World on April 23, 2007 at 2:34 am

Maybe one day someone high up in the church will say they are "in favour of scrapping the god notion", which he termed a mere "hypothesis."

I've seen a "candid camera" version of the hand in the mystery box. People had every reason to be nervous. They had no idea what's in there and the set-up was very suspicious. They each got a shock when a hand grabbed them from the inside, and their reactions were played back for laughs.

Comment #22228 by He-man Daunted World on February 13, 2007 at 4:05 pm

I meant I wondered what Mr Dawkins would think of the video that I linked to. It includes a completely new theory of what caused the big bang, and it ends with a mockery of the creationist debate. All within a minute. It's brilliant.

I wonder what Mr Dawkins would think of this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Z82lm5oGQ

I'm sure he'd get a laugh out of the last 20 seconds.

27. Does Richard Dawkins exist?

Comment #21329 by He-man Daunted World on February 8, 2007 at 5:57 pm

Here's a great quote i found in the comments section of a George Carlin video on youtube:

"Atheism is a belief system the way "Off" is a TV channel."

29. Deliver us from the god delusion that imperils our humanity

Comment #18152 by He-man Daunted World on January 18, 2007 at 3:39 pm

My first reaction to all these Australian articles is: "I didn't know THEY were an atheist!"

It's very eye-opening, and for me is one of the most positive outcomes of this whole saga.

30. Lil' Markie live, part 2

Comment #17715 by He-man Daunted World on January 15, 2007 at 4:21 pm

Does he do "Story of an Alcoholic Father" as well? (I think it's his best, along with the Diary of an unborn..) My connection is too slow at the moment to watch all four parts.

I've been a fan of this guy for years but this is the first video I've seen of him.

"Daddy ... please don't go to hell. I wuv you!"

A new opinion piece I just found (possibly the worst one yet):
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20983690-5007146,00.html

"Godless bigots beyond belief

NARROW-minded atheistic jihadists will never understand non-material realities such as truth, beauty, justice, love and God, writes Bill Muehlenberg."

This was in response to the God delusion and an aussie journalist's christmas column

(Not a serious question.)

34. The Trouble with Atheism

Comment #14040 by He-man Daunted World on December 21, 2006 at 12:53 am

I don't understand why atheism should be seen as some sort of last resort, as though everything is true until we know otherwise ..

That's like science flipped on its head.

35. Richard Dawkins on the Mike Dickin Show

37. In case you didn't know I'm a fool, here's an article to prove it.

Comment #12763 by He-man Daunted World on December 13, 2006 at 5:41 pm

"It really doesn't matter whether religious claims are true or false."

This is the sort of statement that makes me want to declare my atheism to one and all. Of course it matters whether it's true or false! I can barely think of anything that would be MORE important.

"..they couldn't imagine a world without the comforts that religion supplies"

To paraphrase Dawkins: He doesn't care what's comforting, he cares what's true!

It's not Dawkins who has the suspect arguments.

38. Richard Dawkins on The Late Late Show with Pat Kenny

Comment #12490 by He-man Daunted World on December 12, 2006 at 6:57 am

The missing 3 minutes from the start of the interview is now up on youtube-:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNUjFYVBBZg

"How can so many people be wrong?"
A frightening question to think about.

And listen to that WHOOSH sound as they raise their hands!

There's an interesting point in there that wasn't fully explained.
We can see subtle (or not so subtle) evidence of what our friends feel about us. What's the equivalent evidence that shows how god feels about us?
