Professor Dawkins,
Do you think this film (I have not seen it) will increase the zeal of its supporters or simply act as a fertiliser for ridicule from 'our' side?

7. Bishop accuses gays of 'conspiracy' against the Catholic Church
Comment #144905 by nickthelight on March 17, 2008 at 2:55 am
As much as I find all religions abhorrent, I have to say that I would find it disgusting if the Gay 'community' were allying themselves with holocaust survivors in an attempt to gain additional sympathy for persecution suffered. When in reality there struggle has been minimal by comparison. They (the Jews) are alone in the way they were treated.

Comment #125242 by nickthelight on February 11, 2008 at 5:42 am
Down with the liberal wimps. We need to stop bending over backwards to entertain peoples ideals. Take it or leave it; we are all equal before the law.
The Christian faith has been slowly eroded from common law; homosexuality as sin for example - why? because of the shifting moral zeitgeist in which the Islamic faith is not in step with. Sharia law is simply not in tune with the modern world. It is un-civilized 6th century nonsense and deserves no respect or promotion.

Mark Smith;
Many thanks. However I don't see how an 'immoral' act can be judged as so if 'it' did not exist at the time the bible was written. No doubt the future will present society with new advances in various fields that evangelicals will deem immoral, as you say 'all of morality can be derived from the bible' but how so; the future is not written!

Anyone versed in theology or perhaps a Christian, please explain the following, taken from the last paragraph: "...to conform to a system that is above even that which Scripture calls for"
"above even that which scripture calls for" - what does this encompass?; stem cell research perhaps. This was not known to the authors of Christianity.

A facinating new field of scientific exploration. Perhaps it could be used to discover if people who claim to belive actually do or if they are playing cognative tickes on their own minds, are they aware they do or do not believe but just choose to ingnore the feelings? This subject it mentioned in 'The Four Horsemen'. We all do it - those who smoke are aware that it's deadly and will send them to an early grave, so why do they do it? There are many other examples, of course and I wait for the results of this research with interest.

What a terrible and pointless article. Are we supposed to sympathize, agree with or what? Is it a man or a woman- I'm guessing a woman? Not Muslim Enough - for who? What does that mean? Any amount of Muslim (faith) is too much.

24. Why do we ignore the plight of ex-Muslims?
Comment #81648 by nickthelight on October 25, 2007 at 2:01 am
Islam is No1 on the list of humanities worst ideas. There should be no such thing as passive religious hate crime. No violence, no incitement to violence = no crime. Islam seems to have manufactured for itself a particular sub section of law in which 'we' are not permitted to exercise our powers of free speech and expression.
Islam is evil pure evil.

Comment #77651 by nickthelight on October 10, 2007 at 2:12 am
Ban all religious dress in schools and workplaces, especially schools. The hajib is the most offensive and frankly rude. I have to remove my crash helmet when I enter a bank or post office and even Dixon's! But I have seen so many women dressed from head to toe in black in bank's etc, why are they never asked to remove there veil's? It's just pathetic.

30. Argentine Church Faces 'Dirty War' Past
Comment #71199 by nickthelight on September 18, 2007 at 2:49 am
This is exactly the sort of thing that Chomsky writes about in 'Manufacturing Consent'. The Medias total lack of interest in these atrocities carried out by the military Junta (or goverment squads, claimed as 'rouge' by the western powers to avoid having to do anything about it, all the while continuing to sell them the hardware to torture and kill thousands) and ignored by both the Church and western governments, particularly US. Many governments new about this and did nothing as they didn't want to upset 'client states' are just as complicit as the church in my opinion. Others feel free to disagree.
31. Court bans Christian cross on private land in public park
Comment #68379 by nickthelight on September 7, 2007 at 3:26 am
No doubt the separation of Church and State is a constitutional issue insofar as teaching and preaching is concerned, but I must say that If some 'Church Fete' Christians wanted to erect a cross on a hilltop over Easter I wouldn't object.
In fact they do, next to Cherhill Monument in Wilshire.
I fail to see how erecting a cross is unconstitutional? I think a lot of people object and complain just because they can - rather than having a genuine grievance.
