Another image the deluded ones are getting freaked over, this time it's over in the badlands of FL and it's cute *and* damn funny:

First free speech and now puppies. Are they against everything the west holds dear? Where will it end? Kittens?

The oft trawled-out dig about Atheists in Foxholes always makes me think of "Hocus Pocus" by Kurt Vonnegut:

The sermon was based on what he claimed was a well-known fact, that there were no Atheists in foxholes. I asked Jack what he thought of the sermon afterwards, and he said, "There's a Chaplain who never visited the front."

Ever the voice of reason, even in science fiction!

The photos of these guys pointing their bows and arrows at the overflying aircraft left a strong impression on me and I'm still trying to figure out exactly why.

I think it's the idea that they are stuck in a primitive model of humanity and are prepared to die defending it. It reminds me of all the religious zealots who live in ignorance of the world around them and are prepared to go to extreme measures in defence of their primitive beliefs.

Wow, just went over to Amazon.com and checked out the reviews that Jeannie's textbooks have been getting, 100% ratings pretty much all the way down the line with homeschool moms doing most of the reviewing.

So sad to know that kids are having their sense of wonder about the world ripped away from them in such a vile and insidious way. RD is so right when he says that this is child abuse. Roll on his book for kids.

Since when were creationists fans of dinosaurs anyway? I thought the line was that god put the fossils there to test our faith. I guess religion must have 'evolved'. They'll be saying the Earth goes round the Sun next.

7. British schools are falling for the pseudoscience of Brain Gym. Why fill kids' heads with nonsense?

The guy who wrote this article is Charlie Brooker, he's awesome. Another Brooker quote, relevant to this forum:

"But then what's science anyway, eh? I mean, it's only a rigorously tested peer reviewed system of knowledge about the way our world works built up over centuries, that's all. It's not a patch on mindless superstition, which has been around for far longer and brought us exciting things like ghosts and demons, witch trials and the tooth fairy."

11. In Britain, creationist theory is evolving

"I think they are fed up with not finding true happiness. They find having a bigger car doesn't make them happy. They get drunk and the next morning they have a hangover. They take drugs but the drugs wear off. But what they find with Christianity is lasting."

..or they could just try exercising their brains and thinking for themselves instead of being led by money/drugs/religion.

I'd never even considered the hardline koranic creationism though, there's another thin end of a wedge...
