The announcer is terrible. I laughed out loud near the beginning.
Dawkins: Nearly 50 percent of the american public believe that the width of America from New York to San Fransisco is 7.8 yards.
Announcer: That just means that we have a poor education system. Ummm, You equate that with why people believe in god?
Dawkins: Well... yes.

Whatever evils the internet can and will be blamed for, a project like this instantly redeems it. Things are A LOT different now than they were even 20 years ago.
Imagine being a kid again and having access to an interactive resource like this along with the rest of the internet. Now imagine being a Sunday-school teacher and having to answering that kids questions!
Easy access to information will make it very difficult for theists to brainwash subsequent generations. How attractive is a dusty old bible going to look next to this?

3. State Approves Evolution As 'Scientific Theory'

'He said the teaching of evolution in Florida's schools should include scientific criticisms of the controversial theory'
As long as they aren't allowed to teach creationism as science, this is fine with me. If they attempt to present creationism as a conflicting theory in some textbook, it's not fine... unless it's an abnormal psychology textbook.

I've been reading the board for some time and seen some crazy stuff, but this debate is the first that's motivated me to register and post. It's maddening that Dr. Simmons is publishing items as facts when he's essentially not done the research to back it up.
I am educated, and maybe mistakenly, I assume that someone with a doctorate(MD) would... at the very least, recognize the importance of researching the information that he/she presents as fact.
For (dr) Simmons to tell the esteemed Dr. Myers that he was absolutely WRONG and then to support his argument by citing a single periodical article is unbelievable. And then to find out that he's actually published this stuff with his name, proudly attached is... crazy! It should be criminal. In my opinion, his title gives him credibility and authority that he doesn't deserve.
I sincerely hope that he's the laughing-stock among the real scientists at the Discovery Institute (if there are any).
