1. The simple falsehood at the heart of Expelled

To quote Comedian Ron White, "There's no cure for stupid."

But seriously, Is there a nicer way of saying some one is deluded (other than saying they are religious)? I seem to have this problem. No matter how I debate this, the rents tend to get snippy.

I think the point she was trying to make regarding the ignorance of the general public is that you do not need to know or be an expert in a subject to understand the subject (or at least know who to ask). For example, understanding of science seems confused because people are more willing to believe a preacher (or whomever) about science, instead of the scientists.

Informing the general public awareness as to what is really science would help.

Or did I confuse the subject? :)

3. Study: Religion colors Americans' views of nanotechnology

Snowcrash was excellent. I have been working on Cryptonomicon for a while now (don't have the time to read books as much, maybe I need to find an ebook version).

I am not satisfied that most Americans reject the idea of nanotech. It does seem to be too generalized. Meaning, there are already a lot of nano products in use and I don't see any boycotts on those products. I don't doubt that some nano products have or will cause controversy but to say all nanotech is just absurd.
