1. £35,000 of taxpayers' cash given to 'atheist bus' group

"It's a bit like paying the Taliban to lecture on women's rights."
Of course, the RC Church is an authority on the subject of women's rights...
"Critics say it is wrong for the Equality and Human Rights Commission to give taxpayers' money to a controversial organisation whose stance would be found objectionable by many members of the public."
What about all the money given to the faithies to run their parallel school system, inter alia? Is that justified expenditure?

This reminds me of a forum post by Richard Carrier that I read a while back:

Relevant part is at the bottom, starting with Blogopolis' post, "Your Friendly Neighborhood Freethought House."
I have to agree with phil rimmer that the real antithesis to religion has to be more than pure science - if we want to win the "culture war" we need to tackle religion on its home turf.
It could be a major blow to religion's monopoly on community if this became a global movement, but getting the ball rolling could be hard (fundraising, etc.)

"Stable"don indeed! It's Stapledon! Methinks some faithies just can't keep stables and mangers out of their minds, certainly not for long enough to write even a semi-coherent article...
Edit: It also seems Bertram [sic!] Russell made use of a deed poll without informing the rest of us. Small things, but they say a lot about the willingness of the faith-head to get the facts right.

What a condescending twit! And to boot, the Youtube user who owns the account can't even put his videos in the right order (and there's a lot of duplicated content).

"There's a lot more devil worship, people interested in satanic things and seances, and less in Jesus."
At first I read that as "...interested in satanic things and sciences, and less in Jesus". Wouldn't surprise me if he actually said that, since the Vatican apparently believes that science has "dehumanising" effects for which only they have the cure. Perhaps someone should point out that AIDS in the developing world has infinitely greater "dehumanising" effects, but I suspect they'd be less receptive to that.
"...in 1999 formally revised and upheld the rite for the first time in almost 400 years."
Is it me, or is the Vatican actually regressing back to the middle ages as the rest of the world progresses?
"Jankowski, who holds a doctorate in spiritual theology."
And I thought "media studies" was a mickey-mouse degree...

I've seen this before. Absolutely nauseating indoctrination - and the kids just sit there lapping it up, another generation of faithful fundy idiots in preparation. Why does Dawkins' "virus" metaphor seem so apt here...
