1. Atheist Foundation of Australia Bus Slogan Rejected!

I agree with the decision of the bus advertiser. Unfortunate as it may be, anyone with a screw loose over religion could have easily made those buses their target. That would have costed lives. Attack a billboard, no big deal; a bus, we have a problem. Not one of us here should allow violence to become entangled in the advancement of our cause.

How is the DoE involved in this experiment? Is the trichoplax involved in the discovery of oil and if so, then why would the DoE need to know it's genetic sequence? Just askin'.

Letting her have any control in the interview would have put her above all the other lobbyists that he has lambasted. I thought it was comedic gold.
4. McCain's VP Wants Creationism Taught in School
Comment #240309 by MikedubB on August 31, 2008 at 10:21 am
OMG. A vote for McCain/Palin is NOT a vote for gay marriage! Check the wiki and you will see that she was forced to sign that bill after all legal options to deny gay's their benefits were exhausted.
Palin wants creationism taught in schools if the students bring it up. Big Deal.
The real issue is that she is not qualified to be president.
John McCain is taking a gamble with his old age and health, betting that she won't have to take his office.
That is a gamble with America's future for his, and his party's, own political gains.
Seems like the "Moral Right" is once again acting immorally to gain power.

Okay, so she believes that creationism should be discussed if the students bring it up. The real quuestion is that, given his health, McCain thought this person could be president. She is not qualified. McCain is gambling with America's future for his, or his party's, own political gain.

You start by reading.
Then you ponder, wondering whether 'The Onion' may be at play, but you continue.
Reading further you realize how ridiculous the writer sounds turning what the subjects are doing into real journalism.
It's like hearing Dr. Seuss in the banter of Dickens.
I'm disgusted.
Later.

I thought the Doc did well. The callers are another story. It's like the screeners were intentionally choosing the lowest, most common denominators. I wish I could interview the man. I read 'The Ancestors Tale' a while back and, despite its breadth, was actually left with more questions than answers. (in a good way) Like a true genius, he raised my consciousness, inalterably, forever.

I have been feeling this coming for quite some time. I think the issue is not only the US in relation to increased foreign investment in science, but also the state of the education system within said countries. The scandalous creationist endeavors in the US and elsewhere should be duly noted, but the state of the education system itself bears the brunt of my criticism. US schools continue to fail to meet expectations while abroad we see ever greater acheivements. We, as a people, tend to overlook the grand significance that a proper education has on the future of civilazation itself. If the US wants to stay on top, it should start on the bottom. I say, 'No more home-schooling', 'No more private schools choosing curriculums', and 'No more lowered expectations'. And for the love of all that's holy, can we put someone in the executive office that doesn't dismiss intelligent people as a 'reality-based community'?

12. Religion's role in the climate debate
Comment #205219 by MikedubB on July 6, 2008 at 9:05 pm
WTF? How does it figure that scientists "are coming under the cosh" simply because the public is too daft to accept scientific facts? That is exactly what the scientific community has been pulling its hair out over for ages. I just don't see how that statement makes any sense in the first place. Many people don't accept the facts surrounding climate change, and many people don't accept the fact that sound science rules out a cosmic overlord. I'm pretty sure the Dawk would tell them to stop it on both accounts and many others as well.

Is a 17 year old not underage in Texas? I was raised in El Paso, and I think it is. If so, then can she really be said to have been an 'adherent'? Especially when the religion in question may have dogmas and doctrines that can be expounded upon infinitely into unknown realms of obscurity? And can this not be said to be kidnapping in the instances where the group impeded the child's free movement without parental consent? Can you spank another parents child without their consent? I think the rights of the parents were violated here. Becoming a member in a church does not sign a persons children up for punitive actions from others does it?

We have all seen the studies released that clarify a genetic difference between sexes and heteros and homos, so I think it is just a matter of time until you have a wacky geneticist out there claiming he can 'fix' the 'problem' and put you 'right in the eyes of the Lord forever more' I can hear em now. It is a scary thought, but definitely plausible. Research like this has implications that go far beyond the pale when expounded by radicals. Thats what I meant.

Maybe one day, with the help of genetics, we can finally find a cure for that 'deadliest of diseases', Homosexuality. bum, bum, bum!! (dramatic music)
Wow, I was meaning this to be a bit of a joke, but I am kinda surprised I even said it. Really, is that kinda implied here? even though it is not stating a 'functional significance'.
