2. Knights Templar 'Heirs' Sue Pope For Billions

Comment #233404 by cam9976 on August 19, 2008 at 9:52 pm

Although it's true that the supposed Templar heirs probably aren't heirs I really wouldn't mind seeing the church loosing $150 billion.

3. Vicar supports Life of Brian ban

Comment #222518 by cam9976 on July 31, 2008 at 1:47 pm

"Making fun of Jesus Christ, whom I love more than my wife, in a film is going to offend me."

That really is sad.

Btw: has anyone noticed the underlying homosexual themes inherant in christianity? For a people who hate gays they act pretty gay themselves.

4. Workers' Religious Freedom vs. Patients' Rights

Comment #222514 by cam9976 on July 31, 2008 at 1:43 pm

If I am a doctor who is also a Jehova's Witess and believe that blood transfusions are evil can I refuse to give one to a patient and watch him bleed to death?

5. Sydney brothels say Pope's visit will give business a leg-up

Comment #218954 by cam9976 on July 25, 2008 at 9:38 pm

I wonder if there will also be a surge in the number of vulnerable young catholics molested during the pope's trip.

6. Texas Fiction Science

Comment #218953 by cam9976 on July 25, 2008 at 9:34 pm

Give them back to Mexico. We could eliminate about forty red electoral votes that way.

7. An Original Confession

Comment #207469 by cam9976 on July 9, 2008 at 10:47 pm

I read On the Origin of Species after I'd already read all of Dawkins books, so I really wasn't shocked at the brilliance of his idea... it was old news to me by that time. I feel as though I'd be biased to say it was a bad book, I really didn't like reading it that much.

8. Tablet Ignites Debate on Messiah and Resurrection

Comment #204784 by cam9976 on July 5, 2008 at 6:31 pm

I truly envy those who have the balls required to spend a lifetime studying fairytales.

9. PZ Myers - Expelled from Expelled

Comment #200957 by cam9976 on June 28, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Why are we obsessing over this story...? yes it was funny, yes it illustrated the hypocrisy and stupidity of the creationists... but isn't enough enough already!?!

10. Hints of 'time before Big Bang'

Comment #189941 by cam9976 on June 7, 2008 at 8:34 pm

It's a good idea to be agnostic about things like "the arrow of time" or "time before the BB," as the evidence supporting these theories is flimsy.

12. Mail-boat record 'proves Darwin stole his original ideas from a Welsh scientist'

Comment #185261 by cam9976 on May 27, 2008 at 9:44 am

Who gives a damn. Science is science; it doesn't matter who is credited with the formulation of a particular theory, only that the theory is scientifically sound.

13. 'Reverse Evolution' Discovered in Seattle Fish

Comment #183777 by cam9976 on May 22, 2008 at 7:41 pm

Using the term 'reverse evolution' only proves that the author doesn't have a proper understanding of the evolutionary process. Evolution only works in one way, creating creatures that are better suited for their niches... evolving traits which were similar to ancient ancestors is not reverse evolution, it is simply evolving structures similar to those of an ancestor.

15. The Dissent Of Darwin - The World Of Richard Dawkins

Comment #180381 by cam9976 on May 14, 2008 at 6:08 pm

I was particularily intrigued about their exchange of evolution as a positive vs. negative force.

16. The Neural Buddhists

Comment #179799 by cam9976 on May 13, 2008 at 7:07 pm

I hate this new age garbage of trying to muddle science with religion. People such as this author are trained in science, and are therefore able to sneak snip-bits of religious bullshit into their ideas and make them seem legitimate, even scientifically accepted. These people are even worse than the fundamentalists because they do not shun science but instead try to pervert it to their own ends.

18. Anti-Evolution Film Misappropriates the Holocaust

Comment #172506 by cam9976 on April 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm

Hopefully Ben Stein will be Expelled from the Jewish community.

19. Pat Condell: Anthology DVD available now!

Comment #172503 by cam9976 on April 29, 2008 at 4:18 pm

Carlin and Lewis Black are good, but Condell is a bit more intellectual about denouncing religion [as he is not doing stand-up].

21. Orangutan attempts to hunt fish with spear

Comment #171065 by cam9976 on April 28, 2008 at 9:35 am

Isn't is obvious that god made that Orangutan mimic human behavior to test our faith in Jesus?

22. Sex for diploma offer caught on tape

Comment #164168 by cam9976 on April 19, 2008 at 4:56 pm

Well, I think we should look at the bright side: at least it wasn't an alterboy.

26. Richard Dawkins' secular army must be stopped. God is behind some of our greatest art

Comment #160289 by cam9976 on April 13, 2008 at 10:31 pm

It't not a very convincing argument is it? that we should ignore all the bad stuff religion does to the world because of its benefits to art...

27. Richard Dawkins and Bill Maher

Comment #159306 by cam9976 on April 11, 2008 at 11:27 pm

It's always wonderful to see atheists teaming up like this: Maher brings his popularity and comedic sense to the table while Dawkins espouses his massive intellect.

28. Scientists take drugs to boost brain power: study

Comment #159221 by cam9976 on April 11, 2008 at 5:16 pm

Just as atheletes, to whom their physique is important, take steroids, scientists, who value brain power, are going to try and get something to make themselves smarter; it's human nature, right?

30. The List: The World's Worst Religious Leaders

Comment #159219 by cam9976 on April 11, 2008 at 5:11 pm

The author forgot that Stalin and Mao's brand of communism was highly religious in nature and that Hitler established a quasi state religion of Catholic mysticism and occultism in Germany.

31. Expelled producers accused of copyright infringement

Comment #158447 by cam9976 on April 10, 2008 at 2:26 pm

They apparantly know even less about U.S. copyright laws than they do about science.

32. Commentary: Democrats finally getting religion on religion

Comment #157890 by cam9976 on April 9, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Unfortunatly it is difficult to win an election in America without appealing to religion and absolutly impossible to win if you're an atheist or an agnostic.

33. The books that inspire me

Comment #157879 by cam9976 on April 9, 2008 at 4:51 pm

I've only read the Demon Haunted World and Black Cloud... guess I have some work to do.

35. Protests no concern for outspoken atheist

Comment #155263 by cam9976 on April 4, 2008 at 9:36 am

I believe that the Evolution vs. Creation debate is 'unbalanced' in the same way as the helio-centric vs. geo-centric solar system theries are unbalanced.

36. Anti-gay Okla. lawmaker attracts 1,000 backers

Comment #154548 by cam9976 on April 3, 2008 at 12:26 pm

She's right you know: the bible specifically denounces homosexuality as sin... but then again, the bible also condones slavery and rape.

38. BBC 'too scared to allow jokes about Islam'

Comment #154183 by cam9976 on April 2, 2008 at 8:08 pm

I'd be afraid of Islam too... This is the reason Theo Van Gogh was killed.
