It is Incredible that such a thing can go on in our day and age. I read a very good explanation for why in this article the other day:

http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/paul07/paul07_index.html

Here is a little quote:

"Mass rejection of the gods invariably blossoms in the context of the equally distributed prosperity and education found in almost all 1st world democracies. There are no exceptions on a national basis. That is why only disbelief has proven able to grow via democratic conversion in the benign environment of education and egalitarian prosperity. Mass faith prospers solely in the context of the comparatively primitive social, economic and educational disparities and poverty still characteristic of the 2nd and 3rd worlds and the US."

The Governor of Lousiana seems to be as clueless and ignorant as the general population.

This tendency of the religious to make Hitler an atheist is ludicrous. His army had "God with Us" on their belt buckles. The Nazi war flag had two crosses on it plus the swastika. What kind of atheist would do that? Hitler was a Catholic pure and simple. Mussolini the fascist was a Catholic, Salazar, their contemporary fascist dictator in Portugal was Catholic, Most south American dictators has been devout catholics.

Ben Stein must be one of the most blatantly ignorant people in the US. I watched a clip of him with Bill O'Reilly and it was priceless to see them laughing while displaying their bottomless ignorance about Hitler Germany, evolution and everything else. What amused them so was of course their own completely stupid fantasy of what went on.

That Darwin led to the Holocaust must be one of the most incredibly stupid claims ever made. The Nazi soldier wore a belt buckle with the inscription "Gott mitt uns"= God with us. Some of their war standards had no less than 3 crosses on them. The Army had Christian chaplains with it as had the allies. Standard issue for an atheist army, eh? Good grief.

Killing Jews was a century old German pastime as it was all over Europe. Nazism was very much a Christian endeavor, chiefly Catholic but many Protestants also loved it very much.

As was said earlier, if the far-right are fluttering their eyelashes at him, he might choose to reappraise his approach a little."

Pat Condell has made it abundantly and crystal clear to the "far right" that he has no sympathy for them. He calls them his enemies.
