You'll forgive me if I'm attempting to explain something that everyone knows, but I've seen peop;le who didn't understand it before...

A lot of people on the Internet don't know where the origin of the word troll comes from. It has nothing to do with green, goblin-like creatures that hide under bridges, waiting for Billy Goats Gruff to tramp overhead. (Although the image has stuck and become a little joke of its own.)

It's actually fishing terminology.

The idea is to bait a bunch of hooks, throw them over the side of the boat, and then start the boat moving so that the fish will be attracted to the bait. You don't really care what you catch, as long as you catch something. (Or, in this case, someONE.)

So for those of you who still haven't gotten the picture, I offer this:

Hate to bust into the middle of such a fascinating discussion and all, but... I do have a story to relate.

When I was in grade school, I learned that if you ignore idiots they simply shut up and go away or cry on their pillows at night because they didn't get the attention they were seeking. Surely that applies to IDiots as well.

TheTruthID is a troll. He's not here to listen to anything any of you have to say, he's only here to cause disruption and to sidetrack discussion. HE may even think he's participating in "debate," but clearly he isn't.

He hasn't answered direct questions, provided proof, or done anything except be a pain in the ass.

I think everyone's time would be better served by ignoring the IDiot witch-doctor beliefs he's half-heartedly presenting and simply moving on to more meaningful discussion.

Given the evidence, I hereby label TheTruthID as a Troll and posit spending the time used to rebuff him in some more meaningful way--like brushing your cat, vaccuuming the floor, or flossing your teeth.

Remember what they say about arguing on the Internet... ;>

Whether or not the Nazis used Darwin for justifications - and I agree with Dr. Dawkins they didn't - they would only have used Darwin to support preexisting prejudices justified already in the Christian bible and throughout Christian history documented in its own hand.

The irrational mind (and I count True Believers as having irrational minds regardless of other qualifications) can use anything to justify anything. We already know that ID arguments don't make any sense in the first place. The point of fact is that if it wasn't Atheists/Darwinists = Nazis then it would be some other form of witch hunting. Gays = Nazis (I'd like to see them pull that one off--but I bet it's sadly been done already) or maybe Music Teachers = Nazis. Doesn't matter what example you give; in my experience, Christians are weapons of opportunity.

However, "survival of the fittest" doesn't solely mean "survival of the strongest" or "survival of the most ruthless". It can - and does in many observable instances - mean that organisms which display what we might anthropomorphically describe as "altruistic" behaviour benefit from that behaviour over and above those who don't.

Honestly!

Doesn't anyone watch Meerkat Manor?!? My goodness. Sit down to a few seasons of Meerkat Manor and you'll know that the universe makes perfect sense all by itself if only you have the eyes to see and the heart to listen.
