1. Palin: average isn't good enough

Why should we pray for anything? Shouldn't an omnipotent, omniscient being know what we want in advance? This woman is a lunatic.

I always enjoy listening to Dr.Weinberg, a great scientist and a brilliant man. I read one of his books a few months ago, but unfortunately the title escapes me. He also has a great contribution to the "Portable Atheist."

I liked Kirk Cameron much better when he was just a punk on 'Growing Pains.' Why couldn't they have just put this speech on windows media or real player?

Jerry Coyne is a brilliant man, but he does look like Stephen King, as one poster pointed out.

4. Hitchens and Boteach Debate on God

Comment #126227 by jackdavis on February 12, 2008 at 5:17 pm

The Rabbi's comments at 1:19 were utterly absurd and contradictory. God is the ultimate source of moral authority- and yet Boteach says Jews can disagree with him and even be angry at him. I don't see how you reconcile those views.

I'm skeptical of claims that the free market is so wonderful, having experienced the short end of market economics a many mediocre jobs. Only because it's written by someone I admire will I read it.

Why can't we give her citizenship? In a country of 15 million illegal immigrants, who will notice one more?

8. The Stupidity of Fox News is Truly Beyond Belief

MINDREBEL, Sam Harris himself has said he's a liberal, so why are you saying he's a conservative? He supports gay marriage, drug legalization, manmade global warming, and higher taxes on the wealthy. What's conservative about that?

9. Debate between Sam Harris and Chris Hedges

Comment #50584 by jackdavis on June 18, 2007 at 11:50 pm

Hedges and his ilk really scare me. To believe, contra the evidence, that poverty is the cause of Muslim terrorism, is to put one's head in the sand. We cannot confront Islamic terrorism if we cannot identify his root cause- religious irrationality. Sam did a great job, considering how biased the "moderator" was. It seemed like a two-on-one debate. I suggest everyone read Sam's article "Head in the Sand Liberals," available at his website.

10. Don't Know Much Biology

Excellent article by Dr.Coyne. A few posters didn't believe him when he said half of all Americans don't know the Earth orbits the sun in a year. It's true, however. Lawrence Krauss in the great atheistic magazine Free Inquiry (April/may 2006)says "in a 2001 National Science Foundation survey of scientific literacy, just 50% of American adults knew that the Earth orbits the sun and takes a year to do it."

Fortunately, Brownback has no chance of becoming President.

11. Praying for the Apocalypse

I liked Frazier's quote: "We are at war with the religion of Islam," Has he read the End of Faith? lol
