1. Lourdes fears priestly scandal will make profits dry up

A poor illiterate girl says she sees "the virgin Mary" in a cave 150 years ago and every year how many thousands of people flock there?

150 years ago an educated man writes a book which in a few years completely revolutionizes the scientific community's understanding of LIFE and how many millions still don't accept it?

We can not survive this magnitude of ignorance much longer!

"Lie"? "Crutch"? "Myth"? "Horrible Reason to do Anything"?
I'd like to know what the shirt says 'cause I have a few suggestions...

3. Prayer to feed the hungry

Crap in one hand and pray for food in the other. I bet I know which one will get filled first!

4. Put a Little Science in Your Life

What a great piece of writing. If you haven't read Greene's "The Elegant Universe" or "The Fabric of the Cosmos" I highly recomend them. Both books instill the deep sense of wonder and awe about quantum physics that Dawkins' "The Ancestor's Tale" instills about Evolution. The ideas really come to life in a way that no supernatural explaination ever could for me. And they are all the more beautiful for their utter lack of the supernatural.

I can also recomend Susan Jacoby's "The Age of American Unreason" for a more in depth look at the deploreable state of education in the US. Its really sad. Dangerous? Yes. Disgusting? Of course. But also profoundly sad.

5. Scientists rally against creationist 'superstition'

My wife and I moved to London from NY back in January and I think this is great news! Comming from the states where it seems very little is being done to combat the purseued ignorance of ID(see the recent "creationist bill" article on this site) en masse, this is really refreshing. I'm sure it will get a lot of people who don't think about what they really believe about this to start to think about it. And once they start thinking about it they may even start questioning what they think they know - Brilliant! This news just made my day!

6. Senate bill allows display of Lord's Prayer, 10 Commandments

"On the other hand, if its purpose is purely historical I wouldn't have a problem with it. The problem is that it would be used as a tool to shape future decisions." -Frankus1122

Exactly, Frankus. I don't believe for a second that there are any historical motives behind this garbage. Little by little, bit by bit, thats how they work. Then one day when someone finally says "wait, they can't do that!" the answer will be "oh yes they can because 3 years ago, when no one was paying attention, that bill was passed.".

7. Senate bill allows display of Lord's Prayer, 10 Commandments

"Martin said afterward that a number of senators were nervous about including the Lord's Prayer but did so out of fear of what voters would think if they voted against it."

This makes me sick. We need to be doing a lot more so that someday senators may fear what voters will think if they vote for something like this nonsense.

8. Animal Science Without Evolution

If you look at the book cover, you'll notice that "young exploerer's series Exploring Creationism" is in the same style as the Discovery channel's and Animal Planet's logo. This is, Im sure, to confuse the buyer into thinking its ligit.
I also read from the book's discription on "Apologia Educational Ministries" that it will also teach you what to do if encountering a bear. Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather curl up into a ball and protect my neck with my hands than pray to Jesus to protect me. Although I've heard making a lot of uniteligible noise does drive some bears away.
