1. Bill Maher's Religulous Opens Today

I saw this movie twice this weekend in Honolulu. People were cheering and clapping in a very large and packed theater. I went the second time to bring 5 of my friends. The entire theater stood up and cheered at the end. You could tell there was definitely a catharsis of similar emotions. The reactions restored a little hope in me for humanity and removed some of my long-held fears of speaking out against religion. If the statistics from the movie are right, and there really is a 16% population of Americans that have no affiliation with any religion, then this movie will become a force to be reckoned with by the mainstream. Maybe if we all ban together, we can pressure Richard and the four horsemen into doing an even better full-length documentary.

"In defense of the "dumb blonde" who referred to ID as a "theory": well, it IS a theory."
I think you need to go look up the definitions of theory vs. hypothesis as they relate to the scientific process. If after 10 minutes of studying what the scientific process is, you still think ID is a theory, please, please show us the subjective evidence. Otherwise, stop throwing around the word "theory" so loosely.

Argh! Damn it! Now I've got to start putting a bag over my head when I admit I was educated in the LA public school system.

"I think Carlin started his career as a DJ in Shreveport, LA , of all places. Maybe living in LA and looking at all the moronic bible shit down there gave him all the material he would need for turning to comedy."
I grew up not too far from there and can say with utter confidence that MAYBE is an understatement. The stubborn ridiculousness of religious rednecks down there is palpable. It's one of those shit-holes where one grows up and leaves asap only to never comes back, or stays there for life and never leaves. Much of my views on the absurdity of religion are based on personal experiences with this crowd. Trust me, George didn't have to look hard for material on this subject. He truly gave a voice to those of us living under the bludgeon of an overly religious society.

I sent in my email to the LA gov. a few nights ago as well. I grew up in LA going to public schools. If my source is correct, a couple of years ago LA's public education system was rated in the bottom 3 in the nation. I was amazed at how far behind I was when I started my university prerequisites in Hawaii. I wanted to put a bag over my head every time the topic of "where did you go to high school?" came up. If this bill passes, it will only further dumb down LA's children. Knowing the extreme stubborness of the backwood religious nut-jobs there, reality tells me that the Gov. will pass this bill just to pander to voters.

This article IS too short. Does anybody know where I might find the scientific journal on this. I'm sure there must be one. If I find it before anyone reply's, I'll try to post the website.
