I wonder what role video cameras plays in the distortion process. If you went to an (allegedly) haunted place and left a video camera, which recorded (alleged) supernatural activity, would the same level of misinterpretation occur when watching the video, or is the brain not susceptable to the same cognitive dissonance when the stimulus isn't present.
