So...who would be willing to room and board the Okie atheists here? I mean, allow us a glimpse at what a rational society might look and act like.
Every time something of this nature is reported as coming out of my state...it reminds me how damn lucky I am that I read.

Roflmao.
What dolts. Theologically, it was impossible to justify revolt against a government imposed by God for terrestial rule accoriding to biblical accounts (specifically Paul's advice springs to mind), so the only way on religious grounds that our founding fathers could justify war was to find a way to separate God from direct intervention in human affairs. Alot easier to sell a revolution to a bunch of hicks when you tell them that King George III is there only thanks to an accident of birth and circumstance.
Deism was not the theology of choice because it sounded pretty, but so we could kill the king's men and still go on Sunday with a clean conscience.

Dammit I am an Okie... >.>
To give you all an idea of the "living conditions" in OKC, there is over 110 churches in Edmond, a city of less than 70,000. There is at least...12 or so within a two mile radius of my apartment next to UCO.
I remember reading somewhere (on the book Scientists Confront Creationism) a story from the 80's where a bill was being considered here for equal-time for the instruction of ID and a school principal i believe from Burns Flat convinced them to kill the bill saying in effect that they teach creation already...why give evolution a foothold? Apologies for not having a better citation.

First off, being a noob at posting, I apologize in advance.
Secondly, what would the fundies benefit from any civil fighting in America anyway? I acknowledge that war is never sensible, but I also do not see (or notice at least) any canidates that could effectively lead said coup if it ever could occur. As far as likelyhood, I would say this reporter is a little weirded out from his experiences in fundy circles and is seeing ghosts for now. I really do not see any Tom Clancy-ish type of plot here.
...But, if it did ever come to horrid fruition in some mad bid for power (unfourtnately, history is replete with said examples; I wish so bad that every America-is-destined-to-be-a-theocracy missionary would pick up a good history on the Byzantine Empire and understand it) I would like to think that I would stand against the darkness. Hell, I live in a city where there is over 110 churches. Not to mention www.lifechurch.tv is located here. Trust me, if there is some Christian-led bid for power going on, I am damn sure I would know about it pretty soon.
