It must be clear ... that being a real priest is incompatible with this (sexual abuse) because priests are in the service of our Lord.

I only wish that these bastards version of hell was real so that they could enjoy their stay.
I was groped by a brother at Christian Brothers College in Adelaide when I was 12.
I despise these people and all that they represent, there is not a sufficiently vile retribution for the misery that they have caused.
The abject moral poverty of the Catholic church cannot be overstated.

G'day Oystein,
welcome to the site and rationality. I hope that we see a lot of you on the forums.
Irate, an excellent dismembering I thoroughly enjoyed the execution...as it were.
Off topic; I wasn't aware of RM's conversion and I'm sorry to hear that he had problems with depression. Is there a thread where he informed the community of his change of heart?

Al
as I said I didn't have you pegged as an FF apologist and I'm glad that you have proved me right in my judgement.
The problem with what you posted is that it's not what you meant as you indicated that everyone went to the US for treatment not the more nuanced and thoughtful view that you have since laid out and of the kind that I am used to seeing from you.
You must admit you're initial statement was tripe?
By the way I'm not trying to score nationalist points off you or anyone else, so the shot at SA for the current strife is a bit out of line. I remember New York with the tensions between the hassidim and the blacks as well as LA and the King riots. I could go on but everyone has their dirty laundry.
Cheers,
Ian.

I reckon I just didn't have you pegged as an FF apologist of the everything is bigger better and more free in the US type. Your statement is so obviously untrue (unless I missed some nuance).
I don't want to belabour the point but there are many countries with excellent doctors that certainly equal and in some specilaities surpass their US counterparts.
Surely you don't really believe what you wrote?

If someone made a generalized, bigoted and ignorant statement about NZ, I would of course be right there to set them straight. This has nothing to do with nationalism.

Comment #182468 by Ian (South Africa) on May 20, 2008 at 7:44 am
I've always thought that these camps (not just the religious ones but summer camps in general) to be a little strange.
I feel a little uncomfortable with that characterisation perhaps I should just say an American cultural oddity. Much like Butlins type establisments are a British cultural oddity.
Anyway I suppose if one must send ones children away for part of the summer a camp that embraces critical thinking as well as outdoor activities is a much healthier idea than the religiously motivated camps.

I think that you'll find that Australia is a largely secular country with at best a vague Anglicanism used by most people to define their religion if cornered. It is certainly not a Catholic country. I think that they are a vocal minority at best.
The fundamentalism comes to us courtesy of the U.S. and is an extremely vocal but vanishingly small minority that are more often than not seen as rabid mongrels that deserve a bloody swift kick up the arse.

I’m afraid I’m going to rip Steve’s veil harshly from across the elephant scene ;-)
I was recently driving along when I saw a largish (20-30) herd of elephants coming towards me. They were led by a young female who was being coy and playing hard to get. She was being pursued by a large bull whose intentions were obvious by the engorged state of his penis and the massive amounts of sperm emanating there from. Truly an humbling sight his penis was thicker around than my thigh
The bull chased her along the road while stroking her side and back with his trunk. Finally the female capitulated and turned across the road (I’m sure to afford us a better view) and the bull mounted her. He was surprisingly light on his feet and seemed to take the bulk of his weight on his hind legs and using his forelegs for guidance and balance.
The ensuing coitus lasted barely a couple of minutes with the male spraying massive amounts of sperm until he finally entered the female. When he dismounted, again lightly the female ran off leaking litres of fluid in her wake.
This was truly a meeting of Titans with everything presented in brobdignagian quantities, (think fire hoses)

Steve,
indeed you are right massive bloodshed did not come to pass (thankfully). However there are still some chapters of that history unfolding today. We hope that the latest difficulties can be overcome unfortunately it seems there will be a lot of pain in the near future for many people in South Africa.
Oisha.
Nice post. I too experience rising bile and an overwhelming desire to gag when the name John Howard is mentioned. The damage that he and his chrome plated brand of jingoism have done to Australia is incalculable. A vile, hateful miserable spalpeen of a man.

This was arguably one of the most obscure, turgid and blatantly mendacious articles that I have ever plowed 'sic' through. It made me want to beat myself to death with my own keyboard.
I imagine that his classrooms must be like an abbatoir with former students slumped over their desks the stumps of pencils protruding from their bloody eyes and ears, a testament to the lethal extremes one will go to in order to avoid the mental anguish this man must inflict at at close quarters.

Vile, cynical, mendacious, you don't even need to take your pick they all apply to this pathetic yet evil little diatribe. Unfortunately there are oh so many young minds that this will be used to warp.
On a lighter note for those of you that have been posing questions about hell here is a scientific analyses of said sub crustal region;
A retiring physical chemistry professor was setting his last exam, for a graduate course in statistical thermodynamics. Being a bit bored with it all, and with a well kept and wry sense of humour, he set a single question on the sheet:
Is Hell endothermic or exothermic? Support you answer with a proof.
He had little idea what to expect, or how to grade the results, but decided to reward any student who was able to come up with a reasonable and consistent reply to his query. One A was awarded.
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law or some variant. The top student however wrote the following answer:
First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, lets look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. There are two possible conditions. One, if hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate t which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase exponentially until all hell breaks loose. Conversely, if hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, than the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over, condition two.
I reckon this bloke is probably an atheist.
Cheers.
We can solve this with the 1990 postulation of Theresa LeClair, the girl who lived across the hall from me in first year residence. Since I have still not been successful in obtaining sexual relations with her, condition two above has not been met, and thus it can be concluded that condition one is true, and hell is exothermic.
