To my shame I hadn't heard of Brooker until reading this. A classic rant with just the right mixture of humour and vitriol, just what I needed to read stuck in work on one of the nicest Saturday's we've had all year!
Were I able to grow Fallopian tubes and a womb I would probably bear his children.
2. Freethinking Ruins All Things

Freethinking can only desecrate, despoil and ruin. It can create nothing
I assume the idiot, sorry author, means freethinking can create nothing apart from the thousands of scientific advances we can attirbute to this "sad and sterile" path?
I love the way they try to paint atheists as sad, lonely or insecure etc. I've never seen a room full of atheists wailing and crying under the guilty weight of original sin.

I followed the link to the article in the Cambridge news and rather wish I hadn't. They go on at length to decry the "racist cartoon" and "other vile material" and issue a stern warning that comments such as these could fuel racial tension.
Sorry but it seems almost impossible NOT to fuel racial tension where Islam is concerned. That particular religion is like a rabid dog: poke it with a stick or leave it well alone, and it will try and bite you anyway.
4. Former exec in Irvine says he was fired over religion

I work in a local government office in the UK and our Chief Exec, Councillors and Service directors are ALL religious. It is not an "open" issue yet but it is clearly implicit that being a committed christian is a desirable trait.
I have personally been pulled away from my work to look into problems on the website of a corporate directors church, which is really a disgusting misuse of public resources, seeing as the tax-payers pay my wages.
Just so you know it does happen in the UK too unfortunately
