Science does not, but scientism, or naturalism or physicalism seem to. That is that everything that exists is material including consciousness. That position is not scientific. It is a belief.

2. Why do atheists care about what others believe when it doesn't affect atheists?

It is not a symantics game. Call them what you want - laws, constants, parameters, whatever...the question is still valid.

Saying that moderates cause (or enable) extremism is like saying liberals cause (or enable) communism.
