Once again Bill Donahue slanders our good name by invoking his Irish heritage ad-nausium. Can't we excommunicate him or something? "Sorry Bill, but you brought this on your self. Enjoy being a 'West-British American.'"

Alright, so I take back what I said about it not being a big deal. I do however still think you should realize that most Americans are going to read this article and say "Those damn atheists just have to bitch about everything don't they?"

I don't know, maybe this is just me but this didn't seem like that big a deal. I suggest it might be wiser to pick one's battles more carefully. People tend to get piss when you spend a lot of time complaining about stupid things.

It disturbs me that she kept referring to exchanges between herself and Professor Dawkins in military terms. It's not a battle or a war, it is an argument. The difference is that in an argument the loser still goes home with all their limbs.

I dunno, it wasn't funny "ha ha" but it was kinda entertaining in a spoken word kind of way.

NickTheLight,
Please don't let these smacktards discourage you from visiting our fair country. There are plenty of places here that aren't filled with religious insanity. Might I suggest Chicago? Lovely art museum there. Plenty of blues as well.

"...they want to establish a right for liberals to bash Christians and berate God around the clock."
We already have that right. It's called the First Amendment jackass.

John P, I think we're safe on this. For the Discovery Institute or the fundies in general to spin this information they would first have to accept it as true and to do that they would have to accept all the information leading up to it as well. If that where ever to happen then all of us on this forum should simultaneously do a Jig. St. Pat's is coming up...

Kinda makes you wonder, this coupled with the article about the spear wielding chimpanzees. In another several million years will our descendants be able to peacefully coexist with our chimp-descended cousins? You know, assuming we haven't blown ourselves up first.

Clearly the US mint is run by godless heathens who hate hate America.

Ah, but if we follow the current model there will not be one anti-Hitchens book, but several. Personally in anticipation I would now like to copyright the following titles:
The Hitchens Delusion
The Hitchens letters
Hitchens' God
Tales from the Bottom of a Scotch Glass
I was a bit disturbed by his support of the Iraq war and his apparent distaste for anyone who didn't, but hey; if you agree with someone one hundred percent of the time, what's the fun in that?

I was wondering how long it would take for our little corner of the internet to get Christian spam. Now I know.

I completely agree with the main thrust of this article, however there is one side point i think could use some further discussion. The author seems to claim that the reactionary defense of Islam is a function of a particular political ideology or intellectual elitism. I'm not so sure this is the case. While i agree that such defense is clearly unfounded I would propose that the motive behind it is much less malevolent. It seems to me that most people who engage in Islamic moral defense tend to do so as a way to defuse hatred which they mistakenly see as being directed tword Muslims personally, and not at its true target, Islam in general.
They are undoubtedly wrong, but wrong is not the same as malicious.

FXR,
Obviously I have no idea where you're from, but here in the States St. Pat's day has almost nothing to do with Catholicism or religion any more. It has more or less become a celebration of Erin and her wayward sons and daughters.

I'm going to have to disagree with the assertion that deism is just as crazy as theism. let us compare:
deism: Some sort of deity exists.
theism: Some sort of deity exists, I know his name, and he wrote this book I just bought at Barnes & Noble and all of it is true.
One of those is clearly less defensible than the other.

Physicus,
If you find yourself bored or with a lot of time on your hands what you could do is this: Every day, go to the book store. Find one or all of these books. Copy a page out of them into a note book. Come home and add that page to their wikipedia sites. problem solved.
I do like however, (and by like I of course mean dislike) how they seem to think that Richard Dawkins is the only atheist that ever had an original thought and that by going after him personally they are somehow striking a blow at disbelief. What am I, chopped liver? I mean, what does a guy have to do to get some logical fallacies thrown his way?

I think they got hip to the wiki-vandalism because they no longer allow registration of new accounts and they've edited out all the funny bits.

Let the record show that anyone who suggests that the devil wears green is an anti-Irish bigot. You better watch yourself Cardinal Bologna, that's your core constituency.

You know, I'd love to refute this but lets be honest. It's not worth it. The man is the spiritual leader of a low grade (albeit tasty) meat. How much stroke could he have?

Just remember Mithraman, spears don't kill people. Chimps kill people.
This article honestly knocked me out of my seat though. Just think, in another six-million we could have a chimpanzee as president of the United States. Er... another one anyway.
