Truly excellent summary of the current state of physics. With the activation of the Large Hadron Collider later this year dark matter particles might be created and the predictions of string theory might also be supported. Although I'm sure many people have felt the same throughout history I still can't stop myself from being profoundly grateful to be alive at this time. It feels to me as if the race between humans destroying themselves and spreading out into the galaxy and beyond is drawing near the final stretches. I also have no doubt that Carl Sagan, as so often, was correct in his statement that the race will be very, very close.

As American atheist Don Hirschberg once wrote, "Calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair colour."

I prefer James Randi's version, partly because it doesn't compare atheists to what most people associate with baldness - elderly men:
If atheism is a religion, then not collecting stamps is a hobby.
